(i'm describing this to a rightie, i guess reverse it if you're left handed) well if you're sitting you can sortof place the ds on your leg right above your right knee and sortof tilt the unit up a little with your left hand (the one that will press L for firing) while resting the bottom of your stylus hand on your leg. you might have to push your leg higher as if you were sitting tipi-toed (kind of a weird idea, i know) and you'll probably have to crane your upper body over the ds
anyways i hope that wasn't a rhetorical post, but this felt most natural for me, if anyone else has any good ideas, then please advise, this is one of the most uncomfortable games to play

this is what i dont like about the ds, tho the games sound great but its a pain.
Im right handed and hate playing mario ds with the pen as i have big hands and i cant play it with the pen unless the ds is stuck to the floor so i can use my hand intead of holding the ds to press the buttons.
I think th ds is great for sega casino as you dont need anything but the pen.
the DS doesnt work with 3d platforms or fps games as
1) theyre not made for both left/right handers
2) pen allways has to be taken off and moved back to continue moving
3) the actual brick shape is horrible for your handheld gamers
but i know nintendo will make another DS with a difrent shape, look at the GBA, they made a cheap product and made loads off it, made it again but in a difrent shell and put a full price tag on it.

Is it any more comfortable if you use the thumbstrap instead of the stylus? I've heard a lot of people don't like the feel of the thumbstrap but I really liked it when I was playing Mario 64 DS. At least you can still hold the DS with both hands when you're using it.

Oh, I thought the Lite came with a thumbstrap too. That's a shame that it doesn't. I didn't use it except for when I rented Mario 64 but I thought it might be good for Metroid.

Is that true? Does it not come with a thumb strap? I really hate Nintendo business practices if it does not. Why do I need to go spend another $5-$10 to play their games?
In addition, I was wondering, can I use headphones with this right out of the box, or do I need to buy some stupid converter?

ndsl includes 1/8" for headphones (standard "small" headphone jack) but if you want to run line-in (like, use your own mic) you'll have to build a weird square adapter to fit. i used the adapter at the end of datel's headset and the 1/8" jack converter for the sp and just re-soldered the wires
