Nintendo's legendary developer Shigeru Miyamote has stated that he hopes that the Wii is something consumers will pick up and use on a daily basis through titles such as Wii Sports. He reassured to Famitsu that they (Nintendo) will continue to develop their franchise titles such as Mario and Zelda, but creating titles that encourage every day usage is a big priority.

Talking to popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Nintendos own Shigeru Miyamoto said that the goal with Wii is to create something that consumers will want to turn on and use every day.

Miyamoto went on to say that the Wii Sports series is one of the games that Nintendo hopes will make this ideal a reality. In fact, he even referred to the Wii Sports games as flagship titles for Wiis launch.

Later in the interview, Miyamoto assures that Nintendo will continue to make staple franchise, such as Mario and Zelda, but creating software that encourages daily use will become the companys new focus.

I wonder if they'll use the "Brain Age" style approach: play our sports games for 30 minutes a day, and get into shape, things like that. I know that my wife and I have been competing on Brain Age and Big Brain Academy, which gets us playing the game every day (me in the morning when I first wake up - screw the coffee, 100 math problems and tring to make a trail for animals to follow will wake you up for sure), she in the afternoon.

that was my thought too, receint hit games such as brain age (3 or 4 of those in japan) and Animal Crossing have all been based arround playing them a little, every day, with the promise of the online service with the wii, you could miss out on a unique item or event if u dont load the game up every day. A new concept in gaming and it sounds pretty good to me.

None of the "daily" games have really appealed to me. I like puzzles on paper myself, and you can buy a hell of a lot of puzzle books for the price of brain age, and Animal Crossing DS is really below par - its esentially a glorified chatroom, they should at the very least have kept the nes games in it.

I do like the idea of wii sports keepfit though, I used to do that with Mario Dance.

I use the DDR series on PS2 to keep on fun and fit, every 4-5 times on a week, Workouts are great number calories burn, I wished I could use Mario Mix, but I can't use my Pad with the PS2 adaptor, GC just doesnt recognize the Pad, as it does with the PS2 controller..too bad.
If a good sport game coems to wii, that make you sweat like a pig on a sauna, I would like to include on my routines .

Obviously none of the motion sense ones, but yeah, you can use GC pads with Wii games that support it.

personally you should be given the option if you want interactivity, use the remote, if you dont, you use a pad.

ive just ralised the wii isnt as interactive as they amke out, remember eye toy for the ps2, thats more interactive because you are the player up on the screen, maybe nintendo thought how can we be interactive without copying.

i know still wave your arms like a fool but you wont be able to see your self on screen.

red steel is the sort of game i like, i love fps games but i do not want to use the remote to play it, id love it when you get a wii game with invert axis that would be even more fucked up, move your arm up to look down :) i know some games let you change this but what if one doesnt which i have had a few like that.

The eye toy was indeed kind of interactive game, I remember those games like cleaning windows, and spanking balls around , palying gutiars ( I hate that one, ) I First saw that system on Web cams with games included ( PC) people playing Kind of Volleyball with it.
I think the eye Toy doessn't recognize the deep  , and games that you want to see yourself, most are like looking to the web cam. It works , with games like karaoke, when you are the star  . But on games like FPS ( Red steel, Call of Duty, Medal of honor etc ) could be strange to see you are fighting "ala James Bond", hitting enemies over your shoulder, without looking :D . It could work if the camera goes in the player's back, but how could you "key" yourself from the background .
I bet with the time they ( comapnies ) will launch accessories ( I mean on the incoming systems with 3D Motion sensor ), with diverse functions ( and fashion ), like wrists & arms sensor to play other kind of games, legs and and even body to make "aerobox" ( ah! ), or whatever those companies out there making consoles think about .

the whole point of the wii controller is to allow gaming experiences that arnt possible with a conventional pad, before you judge how well the wii-mote works, maybe you should wait till you have played on one. Its far more then "waving your arms about", if you watch the zelda demo from E3, the players amr movements are pretty subtle, even in battle.

Plus, aside from a mouse, where will you find the accuracy and speed you can get by moving your arm or wrist with the Wii controller. With a normal gamepad, you have to wait for the character to turn depending on the sensitivity, then adjust it if you moved too far or too little left or right, then adjust up or down. The Wii gives you the same control as a mouse, move at your own speed, adjusting aim all at the same time in a fraction of the time a normal controller lets you do it, and with more overall control. This means that the auto-aim and lock on features that so many console games had to rely on so you could take on multiple enemies quickly, is no longer necessary.

Other things are with moves with move on the 3 axis, like on the demo of Red steel, when you can open doors turning the controller, maybe more interactions, or like Zelda when you parry the attack with a controller move, ...I didn't see abouut Rayman ( ugh.. ) but looks like more things are coming/ I think I saw Samus rotating thigns, and pushing/pulling stuff. Is up to the developers find more ways to use the move on 3D to create interisting ( and I hope harder to master ) stuff
