Is it possible? I recently tried with Lunar: Dragon Song. I found the value that could be modified and everything. But when i DID modify it, it wouldn't let me use the save file anymore.
What i'm curious about. Is that if it IS possible, or if there's some extra step i'm missing? Or maybe some alternate program?
I'm currently using Hex Workshop to mess around with the saves.
Thanks. Oh, and I hope this is the section where a question like this would belong.
//edit// i've gotten it save the modified value properly AND load the save into the game. The new problem is that once the actual game tries to load the save, it gives 'corrupt save', and won't load it. There's gotta be SOMETHING i'm missing.

Turns out that all DS games have some sort of encryption in their saves. So even if you can find the values to change, you also need to find what needs to be changed to make it work again.
From what i've read, Lunar just happens to be one of the harder games TO get working. Over on the gscentral board, there's a member there who almost figured it out, but then gave up. He did find a way to hack the actual .nds file to make you start with over 6million. But that's the only value that was easily changeable.
It's pretty disappointing though. It would have been nice if there was some easy way just to hex edit the .sav files.

That's the post where he talks a bout hacking the actual .nds file of the game. It's rather easy to do to get money working. But that's about all. Not to mention, it only works if you start the game from the beginning, it won't work on a loaded save.

What i like about it, is that you don't have to even do those stupid jobs in the game. You can just play right through the main story, which is a lot more enjoyable.
