How do you patch the .nds roms? When I try to drag the rom over the patch file, it seems like it opens a dos window for a splitsecond, and nothing more happens...
Any help on this would be great :)

You have to type the command lines right into a command prompt. That's how i did it anyway.
So far i've had Dawn of Sorrows work perfectly (even on the ripped opening version). But Princess Peach just locks at a white screen. Though i still have some more to mess around with on that one. (i may have had a wrong version of the game)
I just hope a lot more DS games start getting trainers, such as some of the odd rpgs (Lunar Dragon Song anyone?)

can you be a little bit more specific still kinda new to this? The black window stays open for like a sec.

Quick tutorial then.. it requires basic msdos command knowledge. You might be able to set all this up by right clicking on the file , and entering some commands there, but i never do it that way.
In windows xp/whatever
-start>programs>accessories>command prompt
-it'll probably open to some completely random folder on your computer. c:\documents and settings, etc, etc, etc. So you have to go back to the root directory of the drive all your stuff is on (in my case e:\ )
-next you want to go to the folder where all your trainers are. (in my case it's like 6 paths deep), but for this example, we'll just pretend that the trainers were in c:\trainers
So you'd go to that folder by typing cd\trainers
The prompt would now look like c:\trainers
Make sure that everything is extracted to that folder, the trainer, and the actual .nds file. (it doesn't work with games that are zipped, rar'd, etc)
Next you'll want to run bspatch.exe, so you'd type:
bspatch romfile.nds newromfile.nds patchfile.bdf
-bspatch being the program
-romfile.nds being the name of the .nds file for the game
-newromfile.nds being what the rom will be renamed to (in other words, the patched rom. this can be named anything. as long as .nds is at the end)
-patchfile.bdf being the actual trainer patch
After all is done, it'll take abit of time, then you'll know when it's finished. Afterwards, the game should run perfectly fine. Well, it SHOULD. Castlevania worked fine first try. But i still have yet to get princess peach working.
If there is ANY possible easier way then this, please feel free to post it here. If you're confused about any of the steps (I quickly typed this out, so i hope i didn't miss anything), then just ask.

Glad it made sense to people :p
Sadly, i still haven't been able to get princess peach's to work. It patches fine, but when i start the game, i just get a dual white screen. Playing the game unpatched works perfectly fine though. So it's not the game.

I haven't been able to get Princess Peach to work either. Dual screen, both white. freezes there.
I'm using DSLite, EZ4Lite, FLashme7
Any solutions yet?

Sorry to bump such an old thread but I didn't think a new one was in order.
I can't for the life of me get the dawn of sorrow trainer to work. I've followed the instructions to the letter and all I wind up with is byte for byte, a 100% identical copy of the source .nds file. I own the game but can't dump it and I don't have an action replay or codebreaker and can't use dipstar to cheat. So, I'm using the legacy US release and the patch just won't actually patch a damn thing. I'm stumped.

are you sure you are doing it right?
bspatch romfile.nds newromfile.nds patchfile.bdf
dont forget that you need to type in cd (change directory), the computer does not know where your files are so you need to tell it exactly.

It seems that the patch file somehow got corrupted. I downloaded it again and all is fine now. Thanks for the reply.

I've had the same problem for the Castlevania DoS. I have aswell gone through it letter by letter and have had no result. Can somebody post exactly what I need to type into the command prompt? I don't need explaining, I just need to know what to type. And I don't know where I'm supposed to put 'cd'.
