I have just taken apart my 360 for the first time and when I put it back on I left out the screws and the locking side of the case to make it easily accesible for whenever a Hitachi FW comes out. Heres hoping
Interesting and useful post.

you know I was going for a route that would not only open eyes but provide some insight on what will be happening next

I did the same think but mine is still on pieces. I'm working on making this process easy...as many people have suggested
1. I will place 2 sata ports in my case.
2. Connect one of them into the board and the other into the DVD
3. Place a jumper sata cable between the 2 ports when playing.
4. Use the same cable to connect to computer and flash.

So if I get this right youll have one hooked up to the 360 MOBO then a SATA from the adapter to the DVD Drive then the other SATA on the Adapter to your PC so that you have access to it by flipping a switch or something right?

1. well if you place this on your 360 back you will connect one of the cables to the DVD drive inside your box and then you will connect the second cable to the xbox360 board.
2. Now you have 2 SATA connector on the back of your 360.. of course you need to make holes on your box for that.
3.So there is no connection between them yet. but if you place a cable between the 2 connectors outside the box what you are actually doing is connecting the DVD drive to your 360 motherboard.
4. now if you disconnect this cable and place a sata cable between the SATA connector that leads to the DVD drive inside vuala...FW write.
they are photos around I just don't know if you can link another site forum directly...moderator???
