A short while ago we posted about rumours questioning whether the PS3 was actually at E3, now it looks like it's the time for the same rumour to hit the Wii. According to a post on the official Nintendo boards, what we saw at E3 was not the Wii but GC's running Wii dev kit - so the graphics shown, which did not look awesome could have been because of this. This is just a rumour...

If you already heard about this, don't post "old" or whatever, because... that's spam. And besides, I'm sure pleanty of people haven't heard of this.

Apparently, the Wii consoles displayed besides the TVs at E3 this year weren't nothing but show. That's right, just an empty box with a light. The truth is, underneath the displays, were GameCubes running on Wii development kits. This, I believe is actually good news. Why? Because the graphics you saw at E3 were not Wii graphics. I thought they were good, but apparently they can get better. The graphics card is still in development with ATI.

Nope I don't care but it's a little interesting, I hope it's true as it means there is more of the Wii to Sii! (The joy of phonetics)

do we know there are such dev kits or is that just part of the rumor?

it could be that they had wii test units in gamecube cases

it could be true. But was that a standard Gamecube? Or is the GC pictured using the processors and chips that the Wii uses?

it may be true, but who really cares, the main show game was zelda, which is coming out on the cube, the wii version will only have minor graphical changes. just goes to show you how great the cube is :)

I dont know why people worry about X -Box, Nitnendo and $ony using "frankestein" hardware, to run teir demos, off course is very acceptable, sicne what you are showing is a preview, of the game, the iamge is improtant, the console"s shape is nt, since it's parts are compatible with the machine that will be running the game in future. Developers can t use console to compile the games. So they jsut build a stand with parts of this and parts of that, very normal.

nobody really doubts the power of the Wii though, unlike the PS3..
