View Full Version : How to Install a Dualboot Homebrew Firmware Mod on the TS–H943 DVD drive
Team Cavern Imports have created a small PDF guide on ''How to install a dualboot homebrew mod on a 360 DVD rom - The TightMod360 (v0.43DA).'' The tutorial details how you can switch between the original DVD firmware and <a href="http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=7201" target="_blank">Commodore4eva's Xtreme firmware for TS-H943 Xbox 360 Hack</a>.

Here is a quote from <a href="http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEuZluEEuAbeqimDJg.php" target="_blank">Xbox-Scene</a>
It explains how you can piggyback a SST39sf020a flashrom onto the Xbox360 TS-H943 DVD drive, so you have 2 firmwares chips on the drive and you can easily switch (for example) between the original DVD firmware and Commodore4Evas Xtreme firmware for the TS-H943 Xbox 360 DVD drive.

you need a single pole double throw (SPDT) switch. you wire the ground to the center, and then each wire from the resistors to a pole.. so you are grounding out the chip and selecting only one. Not positive on the details - there is a better PDF made explaining more clearly what has to be done.
This is a risky procedure though, the chips will slide around on you, raising the legs of the onboard chip could break and fry your DVD drive if you are not careful. There will probably be better solutions in a few days - the sky isn't falling yet.

Nice. But how is this going to stop the dashboard updates from banning your Xbox Live account or worse? This can still be detected.

They can only detect the active firmware. You just can't go on Live with the hacked one.
There were solutions for Xbox1 like this where you could switch between multiple bios's and use the origianl to go on Live.

a dash update will more then likely prevent the hack from working, the live banning will happen as soon as the detection scheme goes in place meaning one day simply signing on to live will give the ban

As soon as Microsoft starts implementing the new dash update to their games, this hack is useless. Unless there's a way to downgrade your dash to an earlier revision but I don't see this happening either as it updates the kernel as well.

proberly but can they change the way the games boot,i mean when a new f/w comes its for games and the mainboard of the console not the drive is it.
this hack just tells the chip in the 360 that the game is real so to allow to play due to the right code being on the disc which is the code in the 360 chip even with a update it wouldnt effect the way the game boots,
i know it did with the psp but people got around the f/w changes.

Has anybody tried this yet? I froogled for that chip and got these results: http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=SST39sf020a&btnG=Search+Froogle
Now would I have to choose the more expensive Sony sst? Or the samsung? Just today a 98 cent American Semiconductor version came up in the results. Will any of these work better than the others?

A chip is a chip no matter who makes it, it should obide by the specifications set down for it in a datasheet or specification sheet. So the $0.98 one should work as well as the $38 sony or $16 samsung. Their name does not mean a thing really, just like $10 wal-mart shoes that look idential to the $110 nike shoes... Buy 13 of the cheap ones in case you need them down the road :D

that should help you out a bit, theres plenty to choose from. I don't know what specs the drive needs.. they are all around $1-2.
I will tell you though, watch out for shipping. A lot of these places like to sell a certain amount before they don't charge you a handling fee or provide free shipping that is otherwise $20+.

Seeing that the glue is now on the chips, looks like the dual boot has gone out of the window
