The Foros 360 team have released a modified version of the <A href="http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=7201" target="_blank"> Xtreme Hack firmware for TS-H943 Xbox 360</a>. The team says that this release now makes the hack easier to perform, with the ability to edit the firmware key easier with <a href="http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=6937" target="_blank">KDX v1.1</a> - so you don't have to edit the hex code anymore.

This proper release has been created to makes easyier to make the patch. Really it's the same firm modifyed to detect the key that commodore4eva deleted.

This makes easyier to create your own patched firm.

Instructions:

- First you must extract your own firm key.
- Extract your original firm key with KDX1.1 and copy the key
- Open the xtreme_proper.bin file with KDX1.1 and you will see the key 00000000000000
- Pega la key de tu firmware sobre la key a 0 de xtreme_proper.bin
- Paste here your key in xtreme_proper.bin key (key 0's)
- click save firm

Now your firm is ready to be flashed.

See people are always willing to improve software and make it easier to use! And its only a day after the initial release. Im quitely confident that there is more to come, so to anyone thats already pulled out the toolbox and is about to disect their 360 remember this is still very difficult and not for a novice.

Amatuers wishing to backup their games should still approach with caution! You were warned :)

There are modders that will do this, fry some consoles, get the trick down and recover their losses by doing other peoples systems.

All they did was modify c4e's firmware to work with the program they wrote instead of updating their software to work with C4E's firmware - which will make n00bies mad because now they have to go on the wild goose hunt looking for new firmware.

The foros team so far has disappointed me with their useless software releases, video demos and tutorials, and patching of other people's work. Everything counts, but I thought the reason for their software was so you could PPF it, so they wouldn't be breaking the law and you wouldn't need to search out a firmware from a dodgy torrent site or whatever.. Just hook up, dump, apply PPF patch, reflash to drive. Guess thats too simple.

Either way, some interesting stuff is gonna hit the 360 scene now. Prepare for the wave of replacement drives - because no one wnats to rip apart their 360 every damn time they buy a game to back it up.

Didn't the Foros360 create this hack? I thought they made it and commodore4eva released it. They're claiming it's their's anyway.

AFAIK this helps with extracing the key of your original drive (there is a unique key for each DVD drive for each xbox system). You can then add your own unique key to the hacked firmware.

You can even apply it to a different drive and use it in the 360.

If im wrong, feel free to correct me:)

Well if they say that or not. Im sure people are already planning on making a windows application that will do all the work for you at the click of the button. Patience is the key! ;)

I donno, I looked on their forum.. Xtreme posted it, with the exact same nfo commadore4eva used, and the firmware is called Xtreme, but released by Commadore4eva so I am thinking its the same person.. I don't really know though.

From what I gathered Foros team didn't want to break copyright laws by redistrubiting the firmware - rather using a patch so people could use their own firmware. Hence the point of that modified PPF program they released a while back.

I am not disappointed in their work or code, just how they are actually using it.

All someone has to do is make a PPF comparing a dumped original with the hacked firmware I do believe.. Then it should be easy as pie to connect, dump, patch, flash, play. No need of downloading whole firmwares, finding keys, patching files.. you can use the one on your drive with your key already in it.

The next mod I can see will be a dual bios override, so you can hit a switch and it works in the PC, flip it back and it works in the X360 so you don't have to keep flashing to make backups.

The modding has just begun for the 360. This hole will lead to someone discovering another hole.. I would be cautious of the new 360 update coming, if anyone is up on the PSP scene they will know what I mean.

i got sick of the psp scene fast, heh i got sick of my psp fast. its to much crap to deal with upgrading and downgading for each game that requires differant firmware AHHHHH!!! and that crap with the prx files. i wish psp was more like the DS as far as homebrew/backups, its almost like nintendo doesnt care.

im just waiting with many many others for a FW that works with the Hitachi-LG drive, till then this is all cool and what not but doesnt mean much to me. theres the option of getting ahold of a samsung drive but by the time i get it the FW will be out for the hitachi(i hope). its still tempting to have 1 i can keep in my PC with the FW to read disks from but then i wouldent be using my cool external sata 2 port i have on my new MOBO.(Asus p5wd2-e premium, its a great mobo btw) BUT i wouldent have to open my 360 every time i wanted to burn a disk, HMMMM....

what would yall do? (if you didnt care about droppin $70 on a new dvd drive)

A. buy a 2nd 360 samsung drive for your PC to backup your new games easly.

B. not be a lazy a$$ and save some $$$ by opening up the 360 whenever you have a new game to back up.

C. smoke another bowl and call up ol' bill and ask his advice.

Out of those options C is the most logical choice.
