I am very familiar w/the PSP scene and the 1.5 firmware (I have 2 PSP w/1.5 firmwares, in case 1 breaks ;) ) Will this game patch for the 360 restrict me from implementing the firmware hack when (and if) it is dumped?

thx.

First of all, there is no "firmware hack" since its not in the wild and there never will be a universal hack for the firmware since every game has a unique key that must be programmed into the firmware. Second, if you want to play new games and xbox live once a hack does come out, you can forget it cause you WILL need to update which will break any hack that would be out by then.

I know about potential moded or hacked xbox360 (and OG moded xbox) not going on xbox live, thats not really an issue. Online PC games is where its at.

If the dvd firmware hack will only work on specific games and is not universal, why is there so much hype about it? Also, why would Team Executer and non commerical groups release hardware (or instructions) to help re-write the firmware if it won't work to play backups?

thx.

Becuase its a way to make money, and also its the only avenue right now to explore to make a hack that ppl can make money off of. It may be possible to create a universal hack, but ms will block it in future hardware revisions as well as software updates, so its a viable longterm hack like a chip would be that patches/overrides the bios.

thx for all the info.

So the hacked LG/Hit FW that the specialist did, will only work on PGR? Or will it work for certain # of games kinda like umdemualtor8C? It sounds like the newer game dumps like TRL on a DVD-9 wont work using the replaced FW?

This sounds like another PSP 1.5 FW all over again... *sigh* I guess w8n for a chip would be the best bet or maybe a xboxhdm type app along w/some nice softmods (wishful thinking) for the 360.

Each game has a unique id, so say you wanna play pgr3. You have to extract the key for pgr, desolder the eeprom off the dvd drive, flash it with the pgr3 key, resolder it and play your specially ripped copy of pgr3 (note that the dumps out there now will NOT work with the firmware hack). Now, whatever game you put it, the xbox will think its pgr3 and if the key doesn't match, it won't play. So, now say you wanna play graw. You have to repeat the process of desoldering, reflashing, resoldering, etc. This is the process required as of now if you were to do the hack, but of course it could change with progress. Like I said, this will NEVER be a viable universal hack like a mod chip would be.

Software exploits are unlikely due to the hypervisor closely monitoring the ram for buffer overflows or any changes to values in ram in general.

Will that stop Pirate crews ripping games and putting on the same signature for every game they crack?

you guys dont get it.

the firmware for the 360 is hacked so it points to a specific part of the dvd where the security sector should be.

only thing you need to do is to patch each .iso game you have with their own security sector and then it will work fine.

Just take a look at the xbox 1 dvd hack, the 360 hack will be very similair.

I'm glad to hear that the hacked 360 FW does have potential.

thx lenselijer, but I still haven't gotten my orginal question answered....

Will this game patch for the 360 restrict me from implementing the firmware hack when (and if) it is dumped?

;)
