Hello,

I just installed a qoob pro and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

I have a couple of questions:

1) Can the qoob flash mem replace a memory card?

2) Is it possible to directly play SNES images from a dvd-r or will other software be neeeded? I see that .dol files can be loaded, but all mine are .smc.

Thanks, have fun!

Number 1 seems unlikely, as well as unnecessary. I found a 128Mb mem card for my Gamecube for 30 bucks.

As for number 2, you need a SNES emulator .dol file, and your roms on a DVD, and you should be set. The emulator is here: http://gcemu.dcemu.co.uk/snes9xgc.shtml From my experience once you load the emulator file, you can browse the disc to select the same you want to play.

Nope. You can pick up a 3rd party card for ~$20 at most shops or deparment stores. It may be implemented in a future BIOS release, but I see it as pointless.

Yes and no. Yes, you can have a bunch of .SMCs on a DVDR and play them. No for the fact that you need the .DOL (GameCube executable) to initially launch the emulator (ie. SNES9X GX Edition (http://softdev.tehskeen.com/downloads.htm) for SNES) and you can just select any .SMC from the emulators menu.

To be clear, you can have a bunch of game ROMs on one disc (ie. .NES for NES, .SMC for SNES, .BIN (I think) for Genesis, etc. no .ZIP files, though), all in different folders. If you want, you can also have the .DOLs on the disc and execute them from the Qoob's BIOS, or just flash the .DOL to the QP itself. Keep in mind that the Cube laser can read up to 1.35 GB, so when you load up game ROMs on a disc, full sized or mini, watch how much you have in there.

A .dol is like an .exe but for gamecube. Think of it that way that the dol is the emulator, and the roms can be SMCs or Zips.

Thanks to all, I'll give it a try this weekend.

The memory card thing doesnt seem like something anyone would want if you ask me because of the low amount of memory you whouldnt get much on it just but about the snes games just inject them with a emu and they should work fine.
