Audio Xploit FLAWED plz READ

ok after doin the fonts Xploit for a friend of mine, he got clock loops so i thought **** this, and did him the Audio Xploit instead, heres what happened

he was fine and happy with this but after about 3-4 weeks, THIS happened, now he says he didnt do anything but delete 2 games off his E:\ and didnt TOUCH C:\ at ALL, i believe him and went over took a look at his console

he turns the xbox on, inserts music CD, then goes to rip the music

but Evo-X didnt Kick in WTF !!!! the bar progressed until finish, then it said cannot copy track 9999 audio tracks are already present now he got NO music stored AT ALL and in mem manager it was eating up serious space

So basicly it was acting like it was Satandard, but W/O the ability to rip music, PPL, PLEASE listen to me where i say WHEN u got an Xploit up and running, with Evo-X Flash the TSOP, i suggest with X2 4977,

Thats what hes running NOW, Flashed TSOP , NO Xploit just Standard Setup with Evo-X added into C:\ and his machine is acting EXACTLY the same as my REAL modded system, also another + with flashing the TSOP is u can run your XBOX with an UNLOCKED HDD, where with the Xploit it HAS to Be locked OTHERWISE ur FUCKED !!! SERIOUSLY

Ok im gonna sort of say yes and no to that.

Yes a TSOP flash can be an EXCELLENT alternative. I myself have my TSOP flashed with a switchable BIOS (v1.1). HOWEVER if you are NOT running either a v1.0/1 then you have not option to make the TSOP switchable (due to the 256k BIOS size) and therefore must have the new hacked BIOS active at all times. This might be fine for some people BUT with those wanting to play on Xbox LIVE then this is not an option.

So for those running a 1.2/3 and want to use the LIVE feature then a TSOP flash will be unsuitable but for the rest it will be fine.

oh yea, 1 more thing, if ya not bothered about XB Live and wanna flash ya 1.3 DONT use Evo-X to do so, obtain a piece of software called Raincoat and flash the TSOP that way, my M8 i was talking about has a 1.3 console no PC and NO interest in LIVE so this method was IDEAL 4 him, depends on WHAT u actually want out of your XBOX to WHAT method i would suggest using, if ya unsure just ask, if ya **** something up AFTERWARDS 4 the sake of NOT asking thats not our fault,

I was new to all this once myself, so i know how ppl feel, ASK questions, and DONT be sorry afterwards :)

Yeah for 1.3s use Raincoat, actually I use it for all versions. Saying that though I was flashing a 1.3 last night that would not flash through Raincoat even after I updated the .conf file BUT evox manged to do so. I beleive with the 1.2/3s certain chips need to be flashed in raincoat and some evox.

For the record, yes the audio exploit is flawed.
I however, am always sure to point that out whenever recommending an exploit.
As you may know, there are 4 versions of the exploit in existence. 2 CD-only versions and 2 "swapless" / CD versions. Of each type, 1 only runs Linux and 1 runs any xbe.
The CD-only version can get corrupted on reboots and power-downs, this happens rarely but it does happen.
I have examined the broken ST.DB and have found the pathname changed by 1 character. (linux.xbe to linux.xbg)
The swaples version is succeptible to the same corruption as above.
You can also corrupt it by selecting the existing soundtrack instead of "New Sountrack".
So with that said, I only recomend the audio exploit as long as the person has another way into the box in case of corruption. (I.E. Mech Assault, 007, hot-swap or mod-chip)

Now I feel I should warn of the dangers of flashing the TSOP.
There is the posability of you shorting the motherboard or sparking it while soldering.
The flash can fail, rendering your system unrecoverable without a mod-chip.

The only fault I see with the fonts is "clock-loop", but I'm too scared of that to see if there are any more. That should be enough for some of these guys to understand.

What it amounts to is which one is the least intrusive and the easiest to recover from in case of disaster?
In my opinion, it's the audio exploit. It can be fixed via 007, Mech, hot-swap or mod-chip.
The fonts can be fixed via hot-swap or mod-chip only. (waiting it out is not a fix, it's submision)
Flashing the TSOP wrong can only be fixed by a mod-chip.
There is not an economical fix for a fried mobo

So guys, think about your recomendations? Because it's pinned, I feel it may lead ppl in the wrong direction.Maybe even post a warning about the dangers of other methods also. If I can save 256 Xbox's this year, it'll make me happy.

Hi everyone.

I'm very new to the xbox scene. I've got a new Xbox and want to be able to play all media files, homebrew games and utilites and import games.

I'm learning bit by bit but really still confused by all these different methods, I've found out I've got a UK PAL v1.5 (?) xbox mfd: 25/09/2003 (china) so it has the new focus chip and many ppl have had problems with the sept. batch.

Anyway I really don't want to open it up just yet and I want to mod it by myself so what method should I use?
I'd like for it to boot things auto without pressing buttons to activate the exloit and also I'm not bothered about LIVE.

I'm getting a memory card and joypad extender so I can make an xbox -> pc usb lead I just need 007 or mechassualt and an exploit to choose!?! :confused:

I have tried putting in the fonts exploits and rebooting but i keep getting error code 21

i'm not sure what to do next

any help would be welcome

What version of the m$ dashboard is on your system? Also, your kernel info would be helpful...

I had the same problem a few days ago. A friend of my didnt know how to start the audio hack so he messed up, and it gave a 21 error (i think it was 21). So i popped in mechassault and used a save called "run linux" so it booted MXM. from there i just used the "reinstall ST.DB" feature and it worked again.:rolleyes:
