ok i have a analog problem or at least i thought i had one bcoz when playing games that use the analog it would act funky(ex:when im playing daxter he'll start turnning around w/o me moving him) so i took apart my psp and i realized it wasnt the analog thingy, but the thing under it that reads the movement bcoz when i took of the faceplate and the analog box thingy it would still act funky .so now i am here to ask ne here who has ever had this problem how did they fix it or can u recommend a place to take/send it to that will fix it (other than sony, bcoz i pretty much voided the warranty but messing with screw under it)
if u dont have a clue what im talking about i can take a couple of pictures and upload them so you know what im talking about.
thanxs alot i really dont wanna lose my psp

i have a similar problem with my psp analogue nub. whenever you push down on it, it will usually do it's own thing and continue moving down.
this is extremely annoying for shell's such as Psix or that other one as the cursor is always moving when you're not doing it etc..
I don't have a solution to fix your prob here and now but I do remember seeing a link on PSPupdates for a "overnight" psp repair.
might want to check that out, i'm sure that your firmware will be kept safe.

if its a 1.5 psp then use the service
if its 2.+
then sell it and buy a new one!
Buy this replacement part and repair it yourself! ;)

dam it dam it now i really need a repair person i kinda stuck a hole through the that red little film of wires that connects the lcd after trying to make it work coz it wouldnt. now i just need a not so expensive yet effective and reliable repair place/person to take my psp to i have 2 problems and maybe they could fix it 1)something is wrong with my analog not the nub and the box under the nub but the actual movement reading 2)there is a itty bitty yet still a hole in the red film of wires in my lcd screen (im hoping i dont have to pay for another lcd screen).
maybe this should clarify the problem i have bcoz ppl are getting confused or mislead by my other post apparrently.

Are you sure the lcd is damaged? Most of the time its only the backlight thats not working. If you hear the bootup sound then check your screen under a very bright light, maybe you can still see/hear the icons from the menu.

wow..
talk about a situation going bad..
try to take some pics of the damage you did to the PSP and also a pic of what you think is broken with the analog stick. That would be very help. And make sure the pics are blurry!! clean clear crisp so we can better calculate the damage

alright if the second picture is really big sorry its not my fault i was was just stuck with it.
ok so the first picture with th red arrowsis pointing to where i think is causing the problem with the anlaog problem (with the faceplate detached and the nub on the faceplate and psp on it was still acting funky and when i touched the 3rd or 4th golden sqaure the analog movement moved up)the second picture with the black arrows is just another picture of the golden square thingys. ok so now the last three pictures show the hole in the thingy i made i opened it a little so u could see the hole.if u need ne more pictures ill gladly take em

You need a new lcd screen it seems, you can order it cheap from http://www.psxbox.net
I think your backlight is still OK, so you dont need a new one.
Also, you can order a new analog stick from that shop, I think it will fix your problem.

hmm well i have to say thankyou for that website with fairly cheap lcd screens(the ones i looked at were like 80$usd and up). but have u bought from them and do you trust them?
ok and this analog thingy isnt my problem(or atleast i dont think so)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y38/animeking2234/543.jpg
but i think this is(if you want me to blow up the picture ill do so so you can see it better):
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y38/animeking2234/PICT0033.jpg
look at where the red arrows are pointing you see those 4 golden squares-----i think they read movement from the analog box thingy bcoz it has the same 4 golden squares-----i think those are causing my problem so if ne1 who knows what im talking about and realizes what i mean can u plz help me.if ne1 doesnt understand tell me and ill try and explain it the best i can for you again bcoz i really want to fix this problem and if it means buying the analog box thingy and having the same problem again atleast it would be a start (if you know what i mean).

hi dude, i got the same "combo" problem as you, but i have been able to fix the analog stick thing
when you opened the psp, did you notice if a little piece of plastic came out?
a little TRANSPARENT plactic piece with a size about 2cm,
well the point is that this piece of plastic conects the analog stick with the motherboard, so the stick can work as it should (sorry :P my english it's no so good)
this was my case, now my stick is fixed

Sorry to bump this, but I have the same problem with the analog stick. I opened my PSP to fix the digital d-pad and I had quite some trouble with it that I need to deal with after, but first of all, the worst part is that now the analog stick is ALWAYS acting pressed down.
Do not tell me to replace the stick, because as in this thread, if I turn on my PSP without the faceplate (so without the analog stick itself present), it still acts as pressed down. The small transparent rubber thingy on top of the 4 golden pins is still there in the motheboard, and if I press it some other directions are pressed as well.
Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks.

try checking the analog connecters, there should be a clear peice of rubber with gold pins in it that connects the analog controller to the MOBO. It might be out of place or dirty ( hopefully its still there).

is there any website or somewhere that you could show me to buy a new clear thingy, I still have mine but the psp acts funky like they are saying, I have tried 3 different analog sticks, so I know it has to be something else, and the closeest thing I can think of is that thing. I have cleaned it a bunch, but if anyone can tell a good way to clean it better that would be great. Thanks for you help!!!

never seen the clear rubber bit available seperatly. Have you checked it's in there the correct way around? sometimes it pops out and winds up getting put back in place the wrong way around.
just to check the correct way around is with the copper lines in the rubber bit running straight down. i.e(running from the faceplate towards the motherboard).

Yeah it is in the right place...ive tried cleaning it and all that jazz, so maybe it isnt what is causing the problems, I just dont know anymore...there are so many games I would like to play, but just cant stand having to screw with the analog...I played a few psx games on it because it doesnt realy use the analog, but other than that it makes psp games almost impossible. Thanks for the help.

OK, when you test it out did you have the faceplate back on or did you just put the analog over the connecters? Because it is pressure sensitive you should have the whole PSP back together. Make SURE the clear rubber peice is in correctly (gold pins facing up/down). Now test out a game, and try losening up the screws on the back (the two on the right when looking at PSP from the back) slowly and check the controls. Try starting with the one on the lower right first. Sometimes the screws are on to tight which will cause this especially if tou have an aftermarket colored faceplate.
I have 3 PSP with colored Faceplate that had the same probelms and this seems to fixed them all.

thanks I tried that...it still didnt work. I read somewhere on another thread on these forums I believe, to use a dab of alcohol on a q tip and clean the cennectors, that didnt work either. I am so lost right now on this problem...and I AM DYING to play LOH 3...bummer!!! Any body else have any ideas at all?

none left i am afraid. as Tbone said, most of the time it it's not the analog stick itself, it's usually the rubber bit being in the wrong way around or the faceplate not being tightened down enough. I also had this issue with a aftermarket faceplate that required the screws being tightened just so to get it to work correctly.

Sorry for the late replay, network problems. Any way the only thing I can think of right now is the LCD bracket not setting in correctly. Perhaps it got bent slightly or something. Check the bracket to see if it is making contact around the analog area nice and even. The little rubber peice should be evenly flushed with the bracket when in its slot. Other then that I have no idea, except a bad MOBO
