I have a new NGC that I just installed a Qoob Pro with 1.3c. All I have is four original games and no backups yet. After installing the Qoob Pro, everything seems to working fine except that I can no longer boot my Ice Age 2 original. I hear it start to load for about two seconds then it just spins. After the BIOS startup screen, I just get black screen when it's trying to boot. When booting to the original BIOS through the Qoob, the original BIOS start screen comes up then the same thing happens when it tries to load the game. I've also unplugged the harness from the Qoob Pro circuit board, but I get the same results. My other three originals work fine. The Ice Age 2 disk is new and doesn't appear to have any flaws.
I checked my pot and it was at 200 out of the box. I dialed it down to 195 with no change in my problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. My kids are about to run me out of the house.... Is there any chance that there is some new copy protection that is seeing the mod? I find it hard to believe because the problem still occurs when I disconnect the Qoob circuit board.

Hmmm...it's a little hard to diagnose the problem. I doubt there is some kind of protection that inhibits the game from loading since you have tried loading the game without the QP unplugged.
To boot to the original BIOS, are you holding X before turning the Cube on, or are you accessing it through the Qoob menu?
Here's something you could try; play the game with no memory cards in the Cube and see if it loads then. If it loads, you should be able to insert the memory card at the title screen since it won't be accessing your memory cards then.
If all else fails, you could always get a backup image. Due to regulations of the forums, I'm unable to supply you with links. Sorry.

In an effort to get back to a 100% working system, I removed the entire Qoob mod including all solder connections. Same problem - the Ice Age 2 original will not boot, but my other three originals boot fine. Very strange - everything worked fine before. I'm wondering if that during the disassembly that I may have done something to the drive.
My next steps in troubleshooting will be trying to get another drive mechanism to test with and perhaps another Ice Age 2 original disk...
Any additional suggestions are appreciated...

I would try the game on a friends GC to see if it works. If it does, then yeah, obvious GC problem. If not, bad disc. I personally think it's the disk, since your other 3 originals boot fine. Good luck!

I got a new GC from a store with a loose return policy. My original Ice Age 2 disk worked fine in the new GC. I then put the drive assembly from the new unit into my modded GC and again IA2 didn't work. I then modded the new unit. Holding my breath, I tested IA2 and it worked!
In the end, something must have gotten hosed up on the system board of my first unit. All is well now. Thank you all for your suggestions and help.
