Hello. I've been having some trouble playing my backups using the Qoob Pro. I'm able to load the game and play few rounds. However, the game will suddenly turn to a black screen in the middle of gameplay. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it? Do you think it's an installation problem or more of a firmware problem? I'm using v1.3c. Thanks for any help you may give.

Exactly what game are you playing?
So far, I have had no issues of any game in particular that fails to load. Several things might be going on here.
1. Bunk image file: You may have a bad image file that you burned. If you ripped it yourself, you might want to try and re-rip it. Otherwise, if you got it though other means, you may want to search for a different version.
2. Burning speeds: We won't go into media, since if part of the game runs in your Cube, your media should be fine. Although, you might want to try changing up the recording speed. If you burned it at 2x or so, try going faster. If you burned it at the highest speed the disc will allow, try lowering it couple ticks.
3. Case replacement causing issues: If you have a replacement case (to play full sized media or you just like other colors than the drab ones Nintendo gives), and you are having DVD alignment problems (*cough*IcedCube*cough*), the disc might be rubbing or even completely stopped inside the case. In this case (not a pun) try playing with the lid open. Assuming you have the lid switch bypass installed, you should be fine.
4. Laser out of whack: In this case, it may require an adjustment.

Thanks goombakid. Just barely had time to play around with the QOOB lately. Still no help. Tried burning at a higher speed, didn't help. Tried running it with the case open, didn't help. I did get one of the Iced Cube cases, never heard anything about them being a bad quality.
Does anyone have any other suggestions before I start adjusting the pot? I remember when I first installed, the pot was somewhere right around 200.
These discs load up, play for a bit (~30min) then collapse to a black screen. I can't grasp why.

Have you tried using different media? Use full sized discs instead of mini DVDRs?
...Otherwise, a pot. adjustment is in order.

Hmmm. Yeah, I've used a couple of different kinds. The ones we've got now are full sized TDK DVD-Rs. I guess I could try a +R, haven't taken that route yet.
I think the POt was set at around 190, do you think I should be moving up from that point?

The icedcube is not bad quality at all it does have issues with the drive sitting wrong but all in all it is the best case on the market if take toothpicks and other stuff you can fix the drive easy other than that you might need to adjust the pot because when the GC gets hot the pot lowers and that might cause a error with the disc reading.
