Hello,

I just mod my Gamecube version A with a Qoob pro and Bios Version 1.0 Release Candidate 4.

The Gamecube turns on and loads to the Bios screen but I keep getting disc read errors and this is not a backup game, it's an original Zelda windwaker disc.

I did not change the POT yet because I don’t know what kind of Digital volt meter I need. Can some post a link or recommend a model for me? I’ve never used one before so I’m not sure what to get.

Do I even need to adjust my POT or is that only for backups or do I first need to load a different Gamecube Bios and then try and boot a original Gamecube game?

Thanks

First off, if you are using the Official BIOS from qoobchip.com, you will not be able to play backups, and in a rare occasion, a retail game. You may want to consider flashing the Qoob Pro BIOS 1.3c instead. You can find more info on this at ModThatCube. (http://modthatcube.pxn-os.com/)

As it goes for pot. adjusting, I reccomend taking this only as the absolute last effort. Some things to consider is this:

1. Change up burning program. Consider CDBurnerXP or IMGBurn if Nero or of the like is not working for you.

2. Change up media. If you're using mini media, try using another brand or even use full sized media. If using -R media, try +R. Keep in mind that not all Cube lasers are alike. Some will like one brand while another won't like it, etc. (FWIW, I use Full sized TDK DVD+Rs, no pot. adjustment)

3. Consider slowing or speeding up recording speeds. If you burn at 2x and get DREs, try stepping it up to 4x and vice versa.

If all else fails, then get out a multimeter (or go out and get a cheap, decent, digital one), and follow the guides at ModThatCube.

Yes I do have the Official BIOS from qoobchip.com installed and not the Qoob Pro BIOS 1.3c.

I wanted to make sure I that I installed the qoob modchip correct and try to play a retail game on the Official BIOS from qoobchip.com first and then flash the modchip with the Qoob BIOS 1.3c and try a backup.

I'll flash the modchip with the Qoob BIOS 1.3c tonight and see if I can play a retail game and then try a backup game.
