[CLASSIC] Firmware Dumping How To Do It.

Ok i have seen many post cluttering up threads so i thought i would clear up
firmware dumping for once and for all.

We first need to download the relevant tools.

1)MPH Firmware loader V1.4

http://mphwebsite.tuxfamily.org/index.php?program=15

2)Firmware V2.00 & V2.5 eboots.


Once we have these we can proceed to installing and dumping the firmware.

Extract the firmware loader and install to PSP/GAME on your MS.

Extract the V2.00 eboot and place in root of your MS.

Create a new folder in root of MS called Firmware.

Run the MPH firmware loader & select Launch/Install A Firmware/Automatically (with an eboot.pbp).

On the automatic installation screen press up on the dpad so choose is highlighted on pbp file & select it.

On the choose file screen press up on the dpad then scroll down to the eboot.pbp & select it.

Do the same with the install folder option selecting the firmware folder we just created.

Leave the Copy Flash1 option set on Yes.

Once we have done this select Install and wait for it to dump the firmware.

When you see the MS led stop flashing and The Firmware Has Been Successfully Dumped press OK.

Exit the MPH firmware loader and goto the usb option on your PSP.

Create a new folder on you PC called firmware then one inside of that called V2.00 & V2.50.

Copy the flash0 & flash1 folder from your PSP MS firmware folder to the v2.00 folder on your PC.

Delete the flash0 & flash1 folders form your MS & repeat the whole process again the the V2.50 eboot.

You now have 2 complete dumps of the V2.00 & V2.50 firmwares.

To create a hybrid firmware create a new folder on your PC in the firmwares folder called hybrid.

Copy the v2.00 Flash0 folder to it & rename it to Flash2.

Replace flash2/kd folder with 2.50 flash0/kd folder.

DO NOT REPLACE RESOURCE FOLDER INSIDE KD FOLDER..use 2.00 resource folder.

Then replace the flash2\vsh\module folder with the one from 2.50 dump.

Then copy the v2.50 Flash1 folder to it & rename Flash3.

Bingo all done.



I hope this clears everything up and people will stop asking for firmware dumps to be posted.

depends on if u use multiple loader or not. if you use a multiple loader,leave your old flash0 flash1 files and add flash2 flash3. if u use the normal (umdemu then mph loader) way, rename the files flah0 flash1. both waysworked fine for me but weirdly at first i also had problems with the text. i redumped my 2.5 firmware and it worked fine from then on

like jamesbdx says depend on you loading method
if using whackas mod or any umdemu mod with the use custom firmware option leave them as flash2 & 3
else standerd mph loader rename

I know what you mean, there are too many edits of ISO loaders and edits of firmware dumps to get anyone confused to the brink of self destruction.

I can by no means get my head around getting Daxter to return to system menu, always crashes my fucking PSP.

i don't think the 2.5 firmware works so use a hybrid.
i use a hybrid all the time as the 2 games i use work ok with it.
(no i don't download iso's)
what prx you use would depend on your loading method
if using just mphloader it would use the mphloader.prx and boot from flash0&1
the edits have instructions on which flash folders to place firmware in

i've managed to get the loader and the 2 firmwares (eboot.pbp) but i don't see any mention of how to extract these?

i couldn't find a tool to use.

Wat are u bootin the iso with? If you're using UMDEmu, make sure for ISO emulation mode you don't choose system menu, but choose either Direct Load or Copy load.

This is really frustrating me. MPH FW Launcher 1.4 shuts off my PSP halfway through doing a dump of FW2.5! The MS stick light turns off then the screen goes blank. Any ideas anyone?

The answer is you don't need the hybrid if you do that. It's an alternative way beside doing the hybrid which is more easier.

I did the hybrid the proper way works great but no save game info i figured out how to use but it don't have any text with game saves.

Didnt want to create a new topic so thought id post here but here goes, Has anybody tried decrypting the firmware dumps prx's with 1 of the decrypter tools to see if there is anything different maybe it wont work or maybe itll just act as 1.5, just general curiosity really.

Yes I did.

it depend if its compressed or not
there was links to rared versions but they were removed
what extension does your file have ?
if its eboot.pbp & about 17mb just put that on your psp
if its somthing like v25.rar use winrar

Mutdog: Before copying Flash1 from your PSP, use "RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS" in the System menu...
