Hello everyone.
Im planning to buy myself a ps2 (switching back from PC gaming).

My question is -

What would you buy if you were me? Which one is better?
I've read a bit on modchips, but still arent quite sure what to choose.
Here are the possibilities:

1) Expensive -

Ps2 Slim SCPH 70004/70003/75004
Matrix Infinity modchip v. 1.56 with Summone fix , SubZero fix, Matrix fix (is there a Matrix fix?)
a) Matrix is recommended and reliabale modchip, is it?
b) What about the above mentioned fixes? Wouldnt they damage the laser?
c) What about the online play from backups? I've heard that only Crystal modchip supports it. What about Ghost2?

2) 50-80 USD less

PS2 SLIM SCPH 70004 with Ripper 3.2u - no fixes.
a) What's the opinion on Ripper chips? Should I go for it, or pay more and get quality?

3) Weird modchip?

Modbo Infinity - is this the same to Matrix Infinity?

Aside question:

Im planning to play backuped games online, which modchip has a stealth mode in which you can easily play them?

4) PStwo SLIM` 75004 V`15 + H2O CRYSTAL

Almost the same price as the 1) with Matrix Infinity.
Is Crystal better or worse than Matrix?
Ive heard it does not have any problems with online gaming.

Thanks in advance for any opinion on the subject!

Why do you want a slimline pstwo? If you have to have a slim, I like ripper 3.5, its cheap and easy and works with 95% of the games ive played, but the stealth mode is non-existent. GO BIG OR GO HOME, of you want to play online, matrix or better, and I would look into a full size PS2. I repair a ton of PS2's, and I can tell you the full size is a better machine. Fans are bigger so you have less overheating, and when you mod it will get hotter. The PSTwo laser casing is plastic (saves sony money), and it will get warped over time, and ajustment is minimal at best, causing you to replace the whole casing/laser and sometimes the drive gears.

i've been using the crystal chip 1.1 for awhile and everything is fine, all my games boot, online works for all of my back-ups(except socom 2/3), and don't forget about Boot Manager, and try to avoid the slim models becuz my friend has one and he has overheating problems

as above if you can get a v5 - v11 your better off with the old model

if your going slim then make sure its v13 or above

best chip is ghost2 most reliable on the market and nice small size for fitting in the slim's unlike dms, and with new firmware out anyday online games not a problem they work with older verson firmwares but not all games hence new firmware.

you'll also find its currently the only chip that can play the new protected games

no fix's required on any version ps2 except v12

i upgraded from a magic 3.1 (ugh) to a matrix infinity and not a problem with it. Put one in a friends as well. I dont know anything about the games funkies talking about but thats because i really dont follow the ps2 scene anymore. I do know though that out of all the people i knew with a slimline they've all died without any wear and tear just cheaply manufactured.
