I dont know what to do now. I never got a manual or notes or anything on how to backup my gamecube games. I have the Qoob Pro, and I have 2 slots for USB on the back of the gamecube and of course all the cables needed. What do I do next?

Well, first off, go to ModThatCube. (http://modthatcube.pxn-os.org/main.htm) It has majority of the information regarding the Cube Modding scene.

What you'll first need is the latest QP BIOS from there. The latest QP BIOS is 1.3c. The zip file you get from ModThatCube should also contain the flashing software you need to update the BIOS on the QP.

Flashing is simple. First off, make sure your Cube is unplugged, you should not have the Cube powered up in any way while it's connected to the computer. Plug the USB cable into the QP USB connector (the smaller connector) and the other to the computer. Let WinXP configure itself so you can use the QP Flashing soft.

When that's done, run the Qoob Flashing software (the icon is orange). Click "Connect to Qoob". It should connect to your QP, and shows what is flashed to your QP. Check to see if your installer flashed the 1.3c BIOS to your QP. It should be the first 2 blocks on the screen. If any other BIOS other than 1.3c is there, click "Erase", and select that block. When it's done erasing, click on "Write", select the 1.3c BIOS (I believe that the extension is .qcb or something similar, I'm not at my own computer right now), and then select the first 2 blocks. Give it time to write the information to the QP.

This will at least get you up and running with the QP updated. In terms of backups and everything else, refer to ModThatCube, or post here. We will try to help in any way.

BTW, Welcome to the MaxConsole Forums!:)

Thanks for posting all of that. I am so confused though. I was told by the company I bought from that the Qoob Pro would be best for me because I am "new" to gamecube backing up/modding. (I know all about ps2 modding) But people are telling me I should have bought the Viper Extreme because it has USB transfer but so does my Qoob pro. It has 2 slots for USB to connect to my computer.

The USB function on the Qoob Pro is only to flash updated Bios files to the chip. With the Qoob Pro you will need the BBA to backup your originals.

I'm not sure why you'd have 2 different USB Ports. If possible, could you show a pic of it? AFAIK, the QP only has one USB port strictly for flashing.

Backups with the QP is kinda easy, but since I don't backup my own games, I haven't tried it. It does, however, involve having a BBA attached to your Cube and either the latest QP BIOS or GCOM or GCOS on the chip, connecting it to your computer, and simply directing your Internet browser to the Cube's IP and saving the ISO.

What's a BBA and how do I get it? And is the Qoob Pro easier to use? I just feel odd how I asked "Give me the Viper Extreme" and they said the Qoob Pro would be easier for me. But it doesnt seem like it.

BBA = BroadBand Adapter its fits on the bottom of your cube. It can be had for I think around $50 US, you can order it from Nintendo.com or maybe try any location that sells nintendo controllers and memory cards...
