Hello!
My Qoob worked quite a long time without any problems. I have it since last April and was nearly one of the first, having this chip.
Yesterday i wanted to start my gamecube with a Copy and the qoob didnt work no more?! First i had only a black screen. Then i started it again and the Original Bios started.
Then i tried to Flash a new bios on the Chip via USB. But at first i had to remove the old one.
The Flashprogramm displayed, that removing of BIOS and SLOT1 was succesfull, but i cant write into BIOS and SLOT1 a new bios because when i want to select it, the programm tells me, that "yyyy" (with two points above the y's) is already on these slots.
So, how can i completely format my Qoob-Pro-Chip?? Or what i have to do now? I didnt change anything on my cube since last playing and yesterday?!
Okay, thanks for your help!

I have almost the exact same issue. I was using mine no problem since I got it a couple weeks ago. I went to use the gamecube earlier tonight and it began to load the Qoob Bios, then gave me a read error on the DVD. I proceeded to power off the GC and then power back on. Now the GC only loads the original BIOS, no matter what it will not load the Qoob BIOS. I tore apart the GC and all wires are still good. The thing just stopped working. I can however still erase and reflash my chip and I have, everything checks out fine. The power light is on on the Qoob Pro, but is just uses the original BIOS and runs originals fine.
One more thing I just remembered(been testing for hours now), with the door switch wires connected the drive doesnt spin, I have to disconnect those to get it to spin.

yes, the same problem. It spins only, when it loads the original bios. By trying to start the Qoob Bios, i have a blackscreen and nothing spinning

qoob doesnt start any laser to read the disc. so im not able to do such an update.
Im posting this to almost every thread, but still :D
Try wiggling the wires-chip connector, i had exactly the same problem and it helped

hi,
i got same problem... i guess...
i erased bios and it said it was erased.
now, it got some broken language there; i cannot flash anymore.
is there anyway to erase completely as format or something???

If i am right, its the flashing software thatīs the problem, use another flasher.
Edit: Try this one: http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=24521

Will this fix the fact that my qoob chip is not even recognized when plugging into my computer? It used to be recognized, and the "new usb device" popup in windows would come on and everything. Now... I get nothing from my computer: no popup, no sounds indicating something getting plugged in, etc.

You guys need to check for shorts in the wires dont worry about the mainboard as if a short is in the main board the normal bio wont boot but check the heat sink as it sits on a wire and if something metal like that hits the wires then it could cause a short making the circuit not reach the chip.
