I am a super noob when it comes to these ripkits and UMD stuff. I just signed up for this forum and this is my first post, and the first time I've heard of Ripkits. Can someone explain to me (explain it in a dumbed down version) what RipKits. Also I see people talking about ripkits of games like for example like Madden 2006. I am guessing these are like "bootlegs"? But anywho, do people have these to download that are pre-made so that they can just be downloaded and played. Could you also explain how I can do this? I would really appreacate if someone could help me get started with learning what all this stuff is, I learn very quickly. Sorry if I asked to many questions, I am very curious about this.

from my understanding a ripkit is basically another way of saying a patch i guess if you ever worked with old generation ps2 games. the only ones i have ever encountered was for megaman maverick hunter x tokobot...of course gta and about 10 others. anyways what this does is if you have a ISO file of for example "megaman maverick hunter" it will alter some of the data on the ISO that you have and recreate the whole thing all over again making a new ISO file so it will be playable for the MPH loader. basically its just a instant ISO fix but they are kind of hard to find if you ever find a website with these ripkits i hope you can pass it to us. but anyways i think it really comes in handy rather then having the problem decrypting all files and pulling your hairs out trying to get games to work

Gotcha, I was trying to figure out why you were deleting my posts:p I am sorry, I didn't realize you couldn't ask for links for games. I just need someone to teach me how to use these Fastloader and Dev Hook applications:(

your question about fastloader and dev hook these are types of loaders though dev hook these days is not so popular the only game i can think of off the top of my head that would use such a thing would be winning eleven and i cant even remember what part it was. there are tons of loaders out today there is also umd emulator and there is also MPH loader and so on and so on there are even programs to work with your own iso's

in any case
fast loader is a very basic loader all you have to do is find out if your iso is compatable with this loader and follow the instructions in the read me text of the loader that you downloaded and it should teach you how to set it up in your memory card its not that difficult to figure this part out. and just basically put your iso in the iso folder and start up your psp. go to the memory card and select fastloader and just pick the iso you want to play and it will play.

but if you plan on doing such a "habit" of homebrewing your own iso i would recommend you purchase atleast a 2gb memory card i would recommend the 4gb hard drive if you are game crazy but i have not heard anything about the new hard drive for sale for the psp if you buy one you can tell us if its good or not

hope this helps you can find loaders all over the place just try to find the most recent one because they usually have less bugs and better performance

ahhhh, Ok... wow, I am learning this stuff fast. Just to think I had no clue about this stuff like 2 days ago. Thanks for clearing that up. There is one question that has been lingering in my brain... for example to have ISO's to work on your PSP you have to have a 1.5 PSP. Now some UMD games require you to play the game on 1.51 firmware, 1.52 firmware, etc... Does the same apply if your homebrewing the ISO games? And if so, how would you be able to play these games that require the higher firmwares on the 1.5 firmware PSP?

You also say that Fastloader is a basic loader... what do you think is the best, most reliable loader made?

actually i have a 1.5 psp and i have never encountered a problem of having to update my firmware at all. the only thing i have heard of so far was to update to a 2.0 but never to a 1.51 or 1.52. but then again with the new loaders that keep coming out just stick with your 1.5 firmware and dont upgrade it. because i have heard once you upgrade it to 2.6 you are going to be stuck with a piece of junk. and certain games are just completely not playable on any firmware like INITIAL D and STREET FIGHTER. so dont expect for all the games to work..but if you have the iso i would suggest keep it you never know one day you might be able to play it...anyways you can try this website it might help you with some of your other questions

they have quite a bit of helpful tips for all psp topics so just try it out and hope you can figure some stuff out
