Hi guys
Donno if I have posted in the right forum if not please let me know
My PSP is Japanese version 1.5 white, and today I try to charge it, it wont charge?!?!? I have tried to use a new battery and new D/C but no luck. I even tried to plug the D/C into PSP with no battery in, as it worked on my other black PSP, so if anyone have a clue about my PSP?
Edit: The console itself works when the battery is in, just not charging when I plug the power supply.
Please help!!!!
Thanks!!!!

It could also be the yellow receptor socket on your PSP that is bad. Or maybe the LED burned out and its charging and you don't know it a good way to check that is go to battery info in the system settings and look at the percentage of charge before you start and a hour later check it again and see if it incresed.

Thanks for the reply, it might be the yellow bit problem, any idea how can i fix it?

To check the yellow input jack you need to open your psp. You also need a voltmeter. You would unpug the wire that goes to the circuit board from the yellow jack. Plug in your charger and see if there is power going to the connector you unpluged that went to the circuit board.
if you have two psps, does it charge in the other one that way you know if its the battery or the psp!

I would do the check to see if its just the orange element of the LED burned out... probably the most likely thing to go unless you were swinging your PSP over your head by the charging cord.
I have had a couple "high end" sony walkmans that had a similar problem with the headphone jack coming undone a bit from the mainboard from sideways pull stress on the connection (although it appears from the above post that, unlike my walkmans the power adapter in the PSP isnt soldered directly to the board).
Anyone know off hand if there is a SMT fuse that could have blown on this fellows mainboard during a power grid surge or similar (although, the P/S itself should be regulated/protected by the looks of it).. gonna have to pop open my week old PSP one of these days soon just to have a poke-see, just dont want to have to deal with dust getting between the screen and case :(

I got the same problem today. Any idea where the fault could be.
The led goes orange for 1 minutes and then disappear. I left the charger to continue the charging but unfortunately the battery did not charge at all. :( :( :(

Here is the Fuse I am guessing on the amp rating but I think 1.5 amps.

THis is also for people that have the PSP will not charge problem. Sometimes it can be the ribbon cable from the PSP power switch board to the PSP main board. Check to make sure the cable is in all the way and not cocked and that the brown plastic retaining clip is securly closed on both ends. To check the mother board end the screen MUST be removed to do a visual check.

i dont know if this is valid or not but i read it on some forums before some months, some guy did have the same problem after he used one of wabs tools or pspsetx,he just restored the system settings upgraded to 2.00 and his psp could charge the battery again!!!
Try it ad then downgrade again, but i dunno if this guy was posting bs.

Shortly after the PSP came out I remember seeing a proceedure for resetting batteries that had stopped responding or "locked up" or something. I remember the it involved bending a paper clip or staple and shorting two of the contacts in either the PSP or the batery (I can't remember which contains the "locked up" battery controller).
The guide should still be around somewhere.

Yes, I also have a battery problem w/ my PSP. I was listening to music and playing on the PC. I noticed my battery was low so I turned it off and put the AC in. I looked at it about an hour later and noticed it wasn't charging. I unplug it from the outlet, plugged it in to another outlet no luck. I also took it to my car charger, still no luck. I took out the battery blew on the connectors thinking they were dirty, I put the battery in. It came on a little bit then went off, its done this 2 times. Should I buy a new battery or call Sony, since I got it from sony since my first PSP broke and they sent me this one, and is still in warranty.
