Chinese Analyst Says The Xbox 360 Will Fail

A Chinese analyst says that the Microsoft Xbox360 will do very poorly when shipped to China according to GameShout.


President of Shanda Interactive Entertainment in China, Jun Tang, has expressed his grim impressions of the Xbox360's future release in the Chinese market. If you thought the Japanese release was bad, Tang thinks it'll be worse in China.

Tang says that it's for two reasons. The first reason being that the Xbox360 has little diversity in games.

While FPSs and popular sports titles sell like hotcakes in North America, they won't fare so well in China.

The second reason is that the Xbox360 is extremely expensive and consumers in China won't want to purchase such an expensive device if they aren't promised great games for it.

lol isnt this whole article rubbish. Im sure this shud be titled xbox will fail and not 360. The 1st point about diversity is stupid he has done no homework on the subject at all. I mean there are more rpgs announced for the xbox 360 than the ps3 and way more diversity. And the 2nd point is rubbish aswell because its cheaper than the ps2 was and it will defo be cheaper than the ps3.

well i hope it does well in japan so lots of rpgs will come out for it. If it flops, square enix and other companies wont make rpgs for it.

The XBOX has not the hardwarepower like the x360, but in all other cases the x360 can't reach the xbox at the moment. I have both consoles but the xbox runs a lot of more times for me like as the x360 and when i see some games on both consoles... He! Where did the developers hide the x360 power?

...and don't forget, i work only a few days then i can buy a xbox360. A chinese must work two months or more for the same. Thats the different...

I think the real reason the Xbox360 won't sell well in China is because the pirates in HK can't sell backups at $2 a pop :D :p

It's strange that they fail to mention that us Chinese flock to shell out $600.00 when a new cell phone comes out without a blink of an eye, but yet they label the xbox 360 as expensive. Americans by comparison don't spend $600.00 on a cell, perhaps a small percentage like 6%. But would rather wait until carriers like T-Mobile and Cingular offer contract deals which lower the cell phones cost. Here in China we don't offer such method, you pick a cell phone and pay for it then you charge up your sim card or purchase another new one at the corner stand. So different in comparison to each other.

Given the proper choice, I believe that the core market of Chinese gamers will buy or would buy an xbox 360. I believe this statement above to be false. There will be a small percentage of Chinese gamers who will buy a 360 just as they have done on the psp and ds handhelds.

It will fail because hardly anyone in China even knows about XB1 and out there it seems like word of mouth is the main source for selling.
