GTA boot disc & 1.5 PSP question .

hi,
i have 1.5 jap psp & i need to buy a disc to be able to use the stuff on my memory stick which require UMD.08c & UMD disc .

so my question is if i buy GTA liberty stories game can i use it with out upgrading to firmware 2.0 to run emu's as i dont want to play the game (not yet anyway) i just want to buy the game to use it to boot UMD emulator.

can someone please confirm if it will work this way or the disc wont be recognised in my psp becuase its only compatible with V2 firmware & above. cheers guys

i have just ordered the GTA game from ebay .thanks guys for the speedy reply's :D

who knows this game might come in handy one day if they fully do hack the 2.01+ psp's from GTA save exploit. for now i believe they have tetris working ;)

had to edit to ask this:

is the firmware update on the GTA game optional ? & is it guaranteed to be v2.0 as i heard alot of people say it is (can i see what firmware version on the umd disc without updating)? thanks

The firmware version on the GTA disc is a real and normal 2.0, don't worry. And yes, it is optional if you're already in 2.0 it will play fine.

There are a lot of reports by many users (including myself, I did it like 20 times now) who used this upgrade to go back and forth between 1.5 and 2.0

The general consensus is that it would be illegal for Sony to pretend their upgrade is 2.0 while in fact it is somethig else. So they don't want to do that.

this is all i needed to know.i will upgrade to v2.0 when i'm done with the stuff on v1.50 i dont play retro games i only play the main stuff .

hopefully by the time i upgrade to v2.0 there will be a UMD EMU out for it :D
