I.C.E Chip For Xbox 360 Sparks a Media Frenzy - Update

Upon browsing one of my personal favourite websites called <A href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=13937" target="_blank">Gamesinudstry.biz</a> I was a little bit shocked to see that my previous article on this supposed chip called <a href="http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=5845" target="_blank">Fake I.C.E Chip for Xbox 360</a> inspired some mainstream attention for this fictional chip. They claim this chip to be a hoax as they pictures released are just industry standard components. However as the I.C.E team read my article, they asked me to edit the article and be a little less harsh...

<center><i>Those damn incompetent webmasters ey ? They accidentally uploaded the pictures of standard components and watermarked by mistake! Now they can kiss their jobs goodbye :-).</i></center></a>

So we got talking on an instant messenger and here is a summary of what they said :-

1) They have fired and replaced their webmaster, who was guilty of supposedly uploading those pictures to their website and who also decided to watermark - complelty out of his own initiative.

2) Their team consists supposedly of a strong colloboration of 12, including 3 engineers, marketeers and web related staff.

3) Infinity mods is an affiliate, hence they they are heavily plugged.

4) They have been in touch with one of largest Xbox chip manufacturers, let me re-iterate someone inquiring as to whether they are really fake or not does not add any means of credability to the team.

5) They have released a picture of their supposed OS, no offence guys but anyone can make a simple image in photoshop.

6) Whether what I say or anyone else says, the chip will be released within two weeks and samples will be available, they are just working on fixing security of the chip ;-).

7) They don't want to scam people at all, they are not taking pre orders or anything of the sort right now.

8) The hack was found by looking where no one else has thought to look!

9) I refused to retract on my article and as a result was referred to as a 'useless editor'.

It's up to you to make up your own minds on this one, but I say you'd have to be pretty darn insane to believe this.

hmmm well for it to output to screen, it wud need to go through the 360, and for features such as update bios which was on the screenshot, it would need to access the internet or at least the network. All of this requires the 360s hardware. So if it worked it wud be homebrew. Unless they attach a mini ethernet port and a tv out im not seing how its possible :p

my whole opinion is based on the fact that these `samples` have been released to `unknowns` in the scene.

surely your first area would be to send them to someone connected with xbox-scene, not some obscure `back-o-the-woods` webshop, but like everyone else , i just hope and pray i`m wrong. ;)

The so called custom os is put together into photoshop, program for the expert programmer, lol. also if its not using homebrew, u wud need to solder this to your wireless controller reciever or a usb port. So it can pick up your controller. Otherwise how do you control the dash?

the best way to scam in this situation is to get the hype up for the fake modchip and makeup some fake reseller website and put them on your own "official reseller" page, now do some fake reviews and "bang" reseller start to take preorders and just wait and see the money to roll in....

see this happen all the time with counterfeit MEDs...but if it does happen this will be the first for the modchip scene.

they stopped me believing wen they showed that dash or bios or wotever. Especially with the features on it. I mean update through network? you would need to write your own code to interface with the network card in the 360, then ur own code to use the controllers etc and the hypervisor wud probably detect this code neway. I cud seriosly have believed it, if they said right it boots backups, put an original in, let it boot the dvd will eject put ur backup in and ther u go it plays. But now ther talking about a bios screen or dash? i mean this was only possible on the orignal xbox because the bios was leaked.

have you ever built something (probably not but)? have you ever drawn a design out on a piece of paper, napkin, anything? ever thought about it in your head? have you ever seen the TV show overhaulin. they make concept art of what they plan on doing to the car in the future...is it possible that they created a dashboard for future updates or chips? i dont see why thats unreasonable. you dont even know what that function does or if its even active, do you? I know that i wouldnt be releasing any actual shots of things until i was ready to sell so as to prevent clones. so what else do you want to argue with me about?

It's pretty difficult to hide a second xbox back there, and since the controllers are wireless... just use your imagination. I would like to request information for special pricing for 50, 360 Modchips, i would like to know if pricing for how much the price for each would be if ordering 50. Along i would like to request imformation of prove that they work, since order would be to another country other then Canada or USA. Order would go to central america. The video is now up and working, and let me tell you, its HILARIOUS!!! First of all, the unit is already set up and you don't see any wires coming to the tv so there is no proof that the unit you see is playing what they put in. Second, the whole thing is shot at a distance, in pitch blackness. Third, you can see the disc he is putting in is a burned disc, but you cannot read what it says, and it could be anything, including a dvd movie they burned (which the xbox can read natively) of some cod2 footage. Fourth, THEY DON'T PLAY THE GAME! They just let it start to show the opening footage (someone confirm if that is what the opening of the game looks like, I don't have the game), it could just be a trailer converted to dvd. Fifth, they are like 12 years old. You want me to think that a 12 year old made a chip? Give me a break. This proves nothing but the fact that this is all a scam.

The link is working fyi. I think I figured out what they did. They most likely took the cod2 demo off the kiosk disc, repacked the iso and burned it to a dvd. We already know this is possible. Now, if they took, say, DOA4 which is not on the demo disk, it may be more believeable.

Well, what they boot is not the COD2 demo, I have it myself (the cd-r version), and it doesn't display any sort of intro movie... it just loads with a screen where the controls are displayed, whereafter you can press start to play, so it's deffo not the demo.

Anyhow, we don't actually see that it is the burned disc they put into the X360. It could be the original game, or?

Anyway, I just played with the kiosk disk and ya it goes straight to the game with no intro. It is very possible, however, that they just hacked up the kiosk disk to play the intro movie, or just downloaded a trailer and converted it to a dvd, or they are running it off a second xbox. Since they don't actually play the game, and even if they did that's far from proof, its hard to tell what they did.

it's dark , blurry . The best thing is the time it takes after the dude pressed the power button to get a image on the TV
(i bet it's not a HD that one :) )

So this is pretty obvious , it's just because what you see on the TV is a working version of Call of Duty 2
but it's for sure coming from a second Xbox 360 that is really connected to the TV and those guys are even too dumb to synchronize the moment they push the power button of the consoles !

Ok guys i couldn't take a picture correctly, but i want you, to open with winamp if you have it.
Jump to The video being at 33 secs since it begun, take a look at the hand he has bbelow, i think it's the left hand, now jumpt to it the next sec, to 34 secs since the video started playing, take a look at the hand again, it will not be facing down, as before it was looking upwards, without him moving it in the video lol, they cutted that part lol, now, if you look, that was before the game started to launch but after he placed it for a few secs lol, then also it's hard to notice, but there's another guy with his hand nearby, the one that will grab the back-up disc after they raise the image a bit lol. They simply replaced it with the original game when they cutted the video lol. Check it out, that's how they actually made it play lol, no seconds 360 connected, just that one with a little video cut lol.

I just watched the video at a higher brightness, and ya, the edit is VERY obvious. It's no wonder they shot in such darkness. The edit is definitely not as noticeable in the dark, but once brightened it is very obvious.

Pal and NTSC support, Hard Drive Support, and Ability, to use FTP as well (currently being perfected).

Wires are currently consisting of 29 wires, (we are trying to shrink that down before release)

Chip is Currently working now on v1, and v2 consoles !

It IS the retail game with a white sticker on it. As he is putting it in the 360 (which, btw, is still unopened and we never see the "chip" soldered in and you don't see the back of the tv so there still could be a second xbox), you can see the reflection of the dye in the glass door and its obviously gold. It's the retail game. If you remember the first video it was a burned disc and they just swapped in the original with a video edit, but it was a burned disc, now its the retail disc with a white label on it.
