We were emailed by Rarecodes (a hosting company) who are also the same company behind 'ICEMODS' to inform of us of the so called Xbox 360 mod chip. In all honesty, we here all believe it is just a ridiculous scam for a strugglign retailer to get some promotion - we will not mention this stores URL...

Why is it Fake ?

There are so many reasons that point to this just being a lame publicity stunt for a poor selling mod store. FAKE! It's amazing how quickly R & D has progressed.

cause that thing sold on that page is a chip adapter which doesn't have **** to do with a modchip. they stole the picture, that is all. and those pictures contradict their "20-30 wires) thing too.
not to mention the fact that the "store" and the "modchip maker" are the same people, even their addresses are just a few houses apart.

Actually you have still failed to read. I have read that a while ago and still see no where in that quote anything about a modchip. This is going to be somekind of exploit. So to all wishing on a modchip, maybe no $$$ will be neccesary. :P

these guys did the following:

- released two fake bootdisks for the 360
- stole pictures from other websites and claimed them to be their own
- contradict themselves repeatedly
- have shown no proof whatsoever
- noone but them has ever heard of them, or the chip

and then they do preorders. ever heard of that concept? you send money. money gone. then you get the product sometime when it's done.. or never.

Well according to their site ...As for pre-orders, we are only gathering lists at this time for initial stock release, we are NOT accepting payment of any sort, please do not send us any money at this time, contact your retailers listed above. Thanks ! ...so its not really a scam if they aren't accepting any money.

Whether or not this modchip is real or fake...well..I can't say cause I don't know. It may be....and it may not be.
Besides personally I'll wait till a 2nd or 3rd generation Xbox360 modchip is released, when there is more variety in terms of modchips and more features.... :D

Whether or not this modchip is real or fake...well..I can't say cause I don't know. It may be....and it may not be.

i highly doubt(and im pretty high) that any amount of video or pic's will convince anyone, what i think will be the silver bullet here is if we see a reseller like divineo say they recived samples, they work and are selling them.

I have a one serious question that prolly all of you are thinking about. If, and I use this so lightly it's not funny, a modchip is released for the xbox 360 this early would game producers want to produce games for the xbox 360? Think, as a game company most of the games produced by "me" would be pirated. Why would I not just produce ps3 games over xbox (such as making them for the other console). Any opinions?

while im sure PS3 will someday be hacked i dont think it will be nearly as fast due to blue-ray disk's being used and not many people will have a BR player in their pc at that time also(HD-DVD is said to be less$ and its said to ratail @ +500$) so that leaves downloading games that can be ripped by someone else and hopefully can put on say a hard disk to play, unless u have somekinda not yet made and sure to be expensive BR-DVD-R writer. i think ps3 just gonna plain suck for hacking. nintendos REV should still be "easier" as it plays standard dvd's.
and that leaves my least fav company with the best protection and that can sway devs for some BIG games and what system to put it on.

now, back to topic. the removed pics and story seem really fishy, well the pics always seemed fishy, and the resellers all seem like new website's and no really reputable ones yet.
i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to belive this and KNOW its real and laugh at all the neigh sayers but so far the evidence just doesnt stack up. what i cant figure out is those pics on their site were so obviously stolen from other web sites and removed when ppl found out where they came from, not a nail in the coffin but really damn smelly. and WHY WHY WHY, why take it this far if its not fake? unless their just sitting back laughing at us, but thats gay and wouldent even seem worth the trouble really.

also why did they remove the release day? are they gonna say they cant release for another month? like i said i REALLY hope this is real and i hope Xecuter announces a chip before this hits market so i can wait for their's if this chip is real.

First of all, the ps3 will be hacked, and faster than the 360, sony cant secure a paper bag, let alone their electronics. Second, while they are using blu ray discs, I have a feeling most games will still be on dvds to save cost, or if they aren't, the ps3 will HAVE to support dvds, if for nothing else than movies. Also, the game discs, while they will be blu ray, are goign to be 9gigs to save money (sony said this already). Lets give a real world example of what is probably gonna happen. Sony launches the ps3, games are on 9gig blu ray discs, and it plays dvds for movies (if they dont support dvd for movies the console will take a huge hit). Hackers figure out that sony puts a media check on the games and will only launch games from a blu ray game disc. Hackers figure out how to bypass the media check and encryption, and make a chip. This chip allows users to play games off any media, including dvds. Rips hit the web and people start pirating games and playing them on their ps3. This, to me, is the most likely scenario.

Lol I think they will first release there games on DVD, like they did on ps2 al the launch games where on cd :-p

Later on when the games get mature they will come on blue ray.

Ps3 must support DVD and cd because it also play's psx and ps2

But also, gamecube did get a modchip very late and it didn't help Nintendo whit software puplisers, they made more for ps2 and Xbox witch could be modded then for the non modded game cube

yeah, i just read up a bit more on PS3(dont really like sony though i did get a psp) and i saw a few posts saying it will only play BR movies and not games on BR disks and that games are still DVD9, ps3 has alot of stuff it doesnt need stock, like blue ray.
the whole blue ray/hd dvd pisses me off, i liked good ol dvd. i hope someone hacks both those just like dvd. also if i was to get a player for either it would be for my PC as i can do alot more then just "watch" stuff with the $$$ thing.

i prefer hd-dvd myself, ive seen the specs of blu ray and some things just look a little suspect tbh. Just like most things sony touch actually. A company known for its lies lol. Also vista only supports hd-dvd obviosly and not many ppl are gonna get blu ray if vista doesnt support it. Oh and i got a psp, its on ebay at the moment lol.
And mM$ is i a saint i think you are trying to tell :).
I play more xbox, but have more wish for the PS3 then then a 36, or in other words i prefer Sony produccts more then Microsoft's sucky products most of the time.
And yes the gam ewill be blu-ray but most prob at the begining they might be dvds. But late ron they will be all blu-ray.

they keep digging deeper and deeper. they pretty much confirmed that their chip is fake now.
in order to execute their "dashboard", the chip would need to be able to replace the entire bios or at the very least execute a "homebrew" app. they themselves claimed that homebrew doesn't work, and a bios replacement is impossible because it's embedded in the CPU.
I'd have accepted the possibility of a basic media check circumventing chip, but the $#!t they are claiming is just not gonna happen.
and yes.. the HD is not locked, so on top of trying to pull a large scale scam, they don't even have basic knowledge of the 360.

and as someone on irc pointed out.. screenshots? hello? at 606x476, and clearly NOT taken off a tv/monitor?

im certainly becoming evermore convinced that this is BS, i cant wait for team Xecuters hack to come out cuz ICE is crap and all im looking forward to is how many ways there going to screw up from here till the 31st.
i could do this scam so much better, i could have made pics that were ALOT better then their's, 1st thing i would have done is made the "dash" they ran look more like a DOS type screen with the most standard fonts and most basic desighn and call it beta with the only option of BOOT DVD-R. that would have been more belivable.
maybee they will release a crappy edit of a video soon with cuts galore and audio of them talking about how there so funny for screwing everybody about a BS chip then release the video and try saying its real and uncut with out realizing they forgot to edit the vid. then show us pics of a PS1 chip and say its their's.

or maybee there's an explanation for the pics of the new dash like they figured out how to run unsighned code suddenly and when the chip is released it will play PS3 games and revolution games on the 360 also.

yeah, thats it, or its just fake.

i think this will turn out 1 of 3 ways

A: its a couple kids that know a little about the internet and web design and one late night they were tweaking and someone told them they could have free crack as long an they kept up a bunch of BS about a BS 360 mod.

B:there some real hacks, err i mean hackers that really found some "backdoor" M$ left in and found a way to use it and everyone will be left with their foot in their mouth when the chip really comes out. and they are REALLY NEW and perhaps VERY lucky and just dont know how to bring it to market and they have been telling us the truth this whole time.

and finally,
C:Sony sent every waking moment hacking the 360 and that combined with the moles they have in M$ there going to release this mod and so it doesnt seem to be them they make it seem like there completly incompitent and have NO idea what there doing.

ALSO, just for the fun of it what do you think M$ is thinking/doing right now and what will they do/say if this turns out to be REAL.

ALSO, do you think there would be anywere near the demand for a mod if M$ gave us the ability to do EVERYTHING we want EXCEPT backup/pirate games.
that means run emu's to xbmc to region free to any other homebrew we could make.
maybee even sell the "homebrew kit" for an extra $100 or $250 with a bigger better hard drive then they make $$$ instead of someone else and there really is NO need for a mod chip.
