I'm not sure if this is a good idea but I see a number of Japanese DS titles
that appear interesting. So I'd like to create a list of the Japanese games
that are playable to non Japanese speakers. Obvioulsy, if the game has
an English version available, then there is no reason to list it. If someone
out there already has a list, then I suppose I will just abondon this idea.

SO post any titles that you know of that are playable, ok?

HERE IS THE LIST:

- Super Princess Peach is "playable", but English version imminent.
- Super Monkey Ball DS (a well known classic -- ENGLISH version now avail.
- Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! (one of the most original and addictive games!)
- Iron Feather is NOT playable.
- Biohazard DS - Verry playable, and Vgood
- Bleach - is playable...It's like street fighter, except worse
- Kero Kero playable by 7 yrs old who can play the japanese title
- New Rainbow Island is playable too
- Daigasso! Band Brothers" to the list... If you played games like Frequency/Amplitude/... and liked them, you'll absolutely love this one!
-Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii! Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2 (a game to add to this list)
-Touch de Zuno - Brain training, very good. Better than Brain Challenge.
-Superlite 2500 Joshikousi Nigeru! Shinrei Puzzle - Creepy! I'm trying to work up the courage to return to it. Creepy!
-Chokkan Hitofude - Puzzle. Clear rows. It's actually so easy I feel like I'm missing something.
-Hijouguchi Exit DS - Mr ESC (same as Exit for PSP)
-Puzzle Series 11 Nurikabe - Minesweeper for the DS basically. Lots of different types. I'm not a fan of minesweeper but if you know how the game is played you don't need to read Japanese.
-From the Abyss - standard RPG. You do have to guess for about 6 character building questions at the beginning. Also, if you use a search engine, other places discuss game strategy.
-Arkanoid DS - Very easy.

Super Princess Peach is "playable", though I do think you would miss out alot on the storyline.

Basically, as long as it's not an adventure game or a rpg, you can play it - menus are 99% of the time self-explanatory.
For example, you can play these two Japanese exclusives without problems:
Super Monkey Ball DS (a well known classic)
Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! (one of the most original and addictive games!)

Nintendo handhelds are NOT REGION MODIFIED!! That means that a european DS (and any Gameboy for that matter) will play US and JP games and every combination between. They are all actually the same consoles. The only difference comes in the power supplies between the European, Asian, and the Japanese/North American models. Like previously mentioned, the only difference is language. (And that can be changed quite simply as well). So go ahead and inport all the games and systems you like (does NOT APPLY for Nintendo consoles though).

no, I know the games are region free, I'm that much of a jackass.
This thread is for Japanese games that someone who does not speak
Japanese would be able to play. A lot of games are
released in Japan only and if I import the games
I want to be able to know if I'll be able to
play them since I don't read a whit of their
characters.

I forgot to add another excellent game titled "Daigasso! Band Brothers" to the list... If you played games like Frequency/Amplitude/... and liked them, you'll absolutely love this one!
You soon get the general idea of the game and learn what each option in the menu does, so it's not a problem if you don't know Japanese. There are some reviews out there that describe the game in detail, like this one (http://ds.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=1567).

a game to add to this list would be:

Moero! Nekketsu Rhythm Damashii! Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan 2

I have this issue a lot because I'm easily bored and so many more Japanese games are available than English games.

Touch de Zuno - Brain training, very good. Better than Brain Challenge.

Superlite 2500 Joshikousi Nigeru! Shinrei Puzzle - Creepy! I'm trying to work up the courage to return to it. Creepy!

Chokkan Hitofude - Puzzle. Clear rows. It's actually so easy I feel like I'm missing something.

Hijouguchi Exit DS - Mr ESC (same as Exit for PSP)

Puzzle Series 11 Nurikabe - Minesweeper for the DS basically. Lots of different types. I'm not a fan of minesweeper but if you know how the game is played you don't need to read Japanese.

From the Abyss - standard RPG. You do have to guess for about 6 character building questions at the beginning. Also, if you use a search engine, other places discuss game strategy.

Arkanoid DS - Very easy.
