View Full Version : gcm loading troubles
I have no trouble getting to the gc loader (Starcube,Paradox, etc)however, after I press start i see some data gets sent but then just stops and i'm not able load my gcm. Have tried using different gcm's, wiped gcm, different pc sever loader(ACL & Phoenix) and even used another router and same thing happens each time. Went out bought new cat5 crossover cable and again no luck. Using P4 over 2ghz, speed shouldn't be factor. What else could be the issue?
(when using ACL i see dots start and after about 16dots they just stop, no data going through router or pc, waited for few minutes and nothing changed)

Routers are known to have problems. I'd suggest just using a crossover cable, or perhaps try a hub (I haven't tried a hub...so it would be an experiment). That's all I can offer.
Thanks Polyqueen.
I did try with a crossover cable and the exact same thing happens. Is it normal that i can load a DOL and each gc loader works but my gcm's won't load? (Did a few backups using Cubesoft build 56, so i can rule out bad gcm) Wondering if it could be my NIC or the settings. Stupid question, when using crossover cable my tcp settings should be what exactly? Any help would be appreciated.
I was having this problem.... I solved it by going to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager
Find you network adaptor in the hardware list, double click it, and click the Advanced tab. On mine there is an option called Media Type, the name of yours may vary. It'll probably be set to Auto_Config... change it to 10BaseT.
This forces your adaptor in 10BaseT mode, which means you'll have an easier time connecting without packet loss, but you'll want to switch it back when you're done playing if you copy large files between computers on your home network.
Hope that helps =)
thanks , i actually found out that i wasn't ripping it properly, dont know why but redid it and with another util and works fine.
