Does MS ban for achievement hacking?
Is this safe, and do they ban the xbox or just the account. Also is there a way to be undetected and what are the chances of being banned? And is it worth it? whats the best way to do it? is the profile Tool the best choice?
Thanks for the help in advance.

Banning the Xbox 360 only.
Temp or Perm banning of the Xbox Live account.
Resetting of the gamerscore.
Adding a cheater tag to your gamertag.
The most likely action taken is a reset of your gamerscore and possibly a rare cheater tag.
Ill Effects include:
Being unable to regain any of the reset achievements playing fairly.
Deflated epeen.
A sense of loss over a valueless number you did next to nothing to earn.
Last but not least laughs on live when people inspect your tag.

Depends on if you use common sense.
Unlocking every achievement in one go is a giveaway, as is unlocking achievements that are impossible to get due to servers being shut down etc.
Basically research what you're doing before you jump into it, try to keep your profile looking as legit as possible - even if it means updating your profile on live one achievement at a time.
know what you're doing beforehand, know what the pitfalls are and know what the consequences are should you screw it all up, and don't start crying if you're caught...

That is one of the best posts I've seen giving advice on how to be safe game-saving.

Indeed,
10 games a day might be not so smart but f.e. i actually finished the game Kung Fu Panda in 6 hours. i unlocked the saves in about the same time via some gamesave.
xbox wont ban you for having a lot of saves, or for one or two misplaced achievements, cause games can be glitchy, but dont try to hack yourself into some elite achieves for popular games, they'll be spying for that...

yes they do
I had a friend who starting playing around with achievement hacking, boosted about 5000gs, his account got reset, labeled a cheater, AND his 360 got banned (maybe it was just around when MS caught onto achievement hacking, I don't know), he had to go out and buy a whole new 360, a whole summer's of mowing lawns
suffice to say he isn't hacking achievements anymore...

I would like to say that my console got banned. I didn't boost my personal account but I was recovering and boosting other's on average of 30K to 50K for the past 2 months.
Last weekend I couldn't connect to live. I called in and they said the error codes stated that my console was banned from the live servers. I fetched another console through my replacement warranty at a local store and i'm good to go now.
Check out my history of posts, i'm not a bs'r, honest truth. It can happen for anything, anything that violates their terms/conditions.

MS only ban consoles for actual hardware / firmware hacks to make them run copied games - they don't ban a console for achievement related shenanigans - only a reset.
Boosting 50K in 2 months is like holding a little flag up to MS and saying "I'm here".
Hardly anyone is impressed by large gamerscores these days - does anyone think they can catch up to the leaders with over 300K and not have their achievements scrutinised to the nth degree? Most people I know are more impressed by getting the maximum from a single game...
If you use gamesaves and profile hacks you just have to be careful and do it in a realistic way - don't hack a game all at once, don't use a "load n pop" 1K save.
Try to get what you can from a game legit.
Only use gamesaves that pop achievements one at a time, and be certain it's in the correct order, and leave a realistic amount of time between multiple saves (like don't do the whole of Half Life 2 in an hour...)
You need to keep yourself under the radar, if anyone checks your achievements, they won't be able to tell if something is wrong, don't even give them any suspicions.
Never hack achievements that are not possible to get (remember GTA4's kill a rock star developer? that caught loads of people out)
Take your time - even it means 1 achievement per day - eventually you'll have a nice 1K game for others to admire.
Never hack achievements for games that have internet stat tracking such as Halo 3, Gears 2 or COD WAW - either do them legit or be prepared for the banhammer...
Try whenever possible to get a timestamp.
There's loads of advice, just try to be as sneaky as possible...

Absolute Brilliant advice... but going back to my my situation. I was boosting other people's accounts and my console got banned. There's some code that the network connectivity test gives you when you have an issue connecting to Live. The error had 4 categories, each with an assigned letter: X, Y, Z, and i think A was the last. The Z error read something like 1805.0000 which according to the Live rep it meant the console was banned from their servers.

It all depends how you go about either gamesaving or achievement hacking (which at the moment the profile tool is out of commission since the 8/11 NXE update. You cant just get an obscene amount of GS in a day or it sets off red flags, along with some games you want to stay away from which are monitored by MS ie: 100 rank glitch on Gears 2 which was a big issue for being reset.
