Anyone run the wii system update from Jap version of Wii Sports Resort on US Wii?

I have a US NTSC wii and was wondering if it was safe to run the wii system update to check out Wii Sports Resort a month before the US release. I have played Jap versions of other games on my US wii, but I have never needed to update it and I don't want it change my US wii over to Japeneese text or worse yet brick it or something. I have an original wiikey installed if that makes any difference.

You don not want to run that update on your wii, if you do you will brick it. You should not run PAL, JAP, or NTSC updates on another version wii.

Just iso your disk run wiibrickblocker on it and burn it, no update on the iso = no brick. Without motion+ it will be just a bog standard game though.

Thanks threedog... worked like a charm with the latest version of wiibrickblocker. Now if I only knew Japanese! I knew there was a program to do that, just never needed it before. Only took about 2 secs to patch the iso. Wasn't sure if it actually did anything it fixed it so fast, but when I wrote it out, it no longer showed wii system update, it showed the wii sports resort logo and loaded up perfectly.
