My uncle got a Wii a while ago, and I said I would look into softmodding it for him, so he doesn't have to get someone to install a modchip for him and have his warranty voided.

I had exams that time, so I asked a friend who had a Wii and had already softmodded his.

He gave me his game, and pointed me to this you-tube video that he used.
I'm not a big fan of you-tube but like I said I was busy.

I don't have the link anymore, but I followed the guide blindly (stupid I know), anyway the homebrew channel actually installed, however after installing backup launcher it didn't seem to work.

After soe quick net research it turned out my uncle had firmware 3.4 while my friend had v3.3
The guide had some text that people had to follow on 3.4 but I didnt know how to do what it asked:eek:.

Anyhow this is my problem:
The Wii has the homebrew channel installed but the 2 backup launchers I installed won't boot backups.

Can you guys tell me how to remove the programs already on the SD card (on is one the home screen, and I don;t know how to remove it), and install a backup launcher that works???

Thanks your help would be greatly appreciated by someone new to the Wii scene, and his uncle :o

Edit: He got it a month or two ago

I guess you need to delete the backup loader from the wad folder in the sd card. If he as made the backup loader into a channel then you need to go into settings of ya wii and go into the channel folder there, then just delete the backup loader channel. If i was you i'd drop it back to 3.2 firmware. Its always good to google how to softmod a wii guide, and look for one with a 002 fix with it as you wont be able to play the newer games if not.

if i aint mistaken 3.4 will work with hbc and backup launcher.your prob probably lies with the fact you never installed the ios's (custom firmware) as far as i know you need to load them for backup launcher to work.

Thanks for the quick reply

I don't really want to downgrade as it seems risky, and was just looking for a way to remove the current backup loader and install on that seems to work.

So i can run backups with the system???

Also how would I install ios's (custom firmware), so that backup launcher can work

Thanks alot guys

You got this sorted yet?

Don't blame your friend for you not paying attention to what needs to be done. It's not his fault.

Anyway, get the latest cios from Waninkoko's site

http://softmii.org/waninkoko/cIOS38_rev13b-Installer.zip

Start up the Homebrew Channel and then run the cios installer. As long as you have a net connection on your Wii it will download and patch the files it needs itself.

After that your backups will work fine. Probably.

Thanks for the reply, guess I can't really blame my friend :)

I downloaded Cios 38 rev 13, but I'm not sure if I should get 13a or 13b

Also, how can I remove everything else from the SD card and start with a fresh homebrew channel???

Cheers:D:D
