I'm way pumped about the just announced Wii Menu 4.0. I've been deleting old VC games and gamesaves for the last 6 months just to make room for new ones.
Storing games on a high capacity SD card will be great, but I have a CycloWiz chipped Wii and Homebrew Channel installed. Anyone know if the new Menu will bork any of these? Any intrepid souls out there who have upgraded?

I would hold off for now.
See hackmii.com for the 'features'.

i try to update, but i got an error message "error code: 32017 An error ocurred. Unable to perform the wii system update. visit support.nintendo.com for assistance." then i was send to the main menu, i was a bout to try again when i saw the sd icon next to the wii one, i try to lounch some chanels i had moved from the wii to the sd card, but no luck, then it ask me to move some data, it did look for the data and it was some channel, i had in the main menu, i press ok to move them to the sd card, it look like everyting got moved but the wiiware ones and i can play them, before i moved the other channels i was able to play them but not from the sd card, now i cant move anyting back to the wii menu, i did install a game, it was zelda ocarine of time, my system says that the wii is on 4.0u so i assume it partially updated.

i bet 4.0 completely disables the cios and ios downgrade updates making MW unplayable.

So this doesn't work with wiikey first gen?

Why would Wiikey v1 be any different than v2 or any other modchip?! This will only affect Homebrew and other softmodded people, but it sounds like if you have a chip and HB installed, you should be able to do most things - except go back to whatever version you WERE on. That is what is stopping me from upgrading - because it would be nice to be able to run everything from my SD card on the Wii; I just don't wanna be stuck and never be able to go back. The big N removed the Twilight Hack, IOS 16, and other downgrade-necessary components - so for now, you need to be sure 4.0 is for you. Sounds like BootMii - whenever they decide to release that - will enable full control over the Wii and take away such fears that you might have.

Has anyone updated this with a Wii modded with d2ckey? I'm a little apprehensive about doing this update on my Wii with d2ckey.

My Wii is currently running version 3.4U. Hardware wise, since I mentioned I have d2ckey, obviously it has the d2c chip. Not sure if I should upgrade to Menu 4.0 because I'm afraid of bricking it.

Use Waninkinkos safe updater, I have it installed, the only thing I have issues with is the Wad Installer channel, but I can still install wads from the Homebrew Channel.
