View Full Version : Xbox 360 style graphics on phones by end of year says ARM manager
Now here's optimism for you, the graphics product manager of ARM claims that Mali-4000 processors will offer Xbox 360 style graphics in the palm of your hand by the end of 2009.
Cor. I remember when playing colour Solitaire on my phone was cutting edge, but if you believe the words of Remi Pederson, a graphics product manager at ARM, we could be enjoying Xbox 360 style visuals from our mobile screens by the end of 2009.

And this is under 360 news becauuuuuuuuse? Wow that's a bold claim, but then again the graphics processor wouldn't have to be as powerful as the 360's as it's smaller screen so you wouldn't notice the changes as much.
I'm surprised nobody speculated this is going to go in the NDS 2.0, as that also uses 2 ARM processors in the console.

We can probably (i doubt it) have those graphics on a phone by next year but we still don't have batteries to go along with it.

these "xbox 360 graphics" will definitely be possible......devs just use video instead of polygons.

A phone that needs to be charged every 10 minutes, great! Just what everyone needs! (yeah, I'm on the ARM mailout list so I've been looking at Mali - they are pretty efficient but running a screen, CPU and mali GPU isn't exactly going to be cheap on battery power.)

If that's the case then I want to see a Gears of War version for it by mid 2010.

That is possible, there are so MANY rumors going around now about the new iPhone 3G and its GPU's, etc...

True. Thats the first thing that many ppl complain about, not enough battery power and how much it takes to run.

Close? Compared to what the wireframe preproductions? So far the PS3 and 360 still dont have that kind of quality.
