So I installed a d2pro9 + Wii Clip on my own wii a few months ago with no issues at all, everything worked perfectly fine. I was installing the same chip set up on my sisters wii but after I clipped the chip onto the wii, the LED stays red and the drive will try to spin in intervals of 2 seconds or so. Once I remove the clip it works perfectly fine. While the chip is on it will not eject the discs and the blue LED on the drive will kinda flicker in odd patterns.

Is there anything I can do to fix this issue, possible incorrect solder points from Modchipcentral or what do you think I can do to fix it.

The wii drive is d2c and the chip was supposed to be pre soldered for the d2c/d2c2/d2e board.

make sure your clip is positioned and seated correct, if so ,then check you haven't damaged the underside of the clip as they do get damaged easily .

if there is no damage and you are 100% sure it is inserted correct ,send it back to your supplier ,he will test and replace if it is found faulty

So after inspecting it and reseeding the chip it began to work, I can insert and eject discs with no problems but the discs will not be read and it goes to the black screen error message... I've tried my original games as well, same result.

If you did everything perfectly and still didnt work , so try to put back on your Wii, to test again, then carefully test yoru sisters wii, if the problem persists, so you have one of thsoe drives that need workarounds.. I dotn know about the "crrent" chips, but on that chip generation, there were certain problematic drives, that accepted one chip instead another, or need some specific workarounds..
oh, it happened to me, My drive didnt accept the D2Pro9 and clip, and I didnt want to enter full soldering methods so I bought a wasabi instead.. ( it rocks )
Wiis are not NGC, so their product line components changes from one to anther very often,...some drives dont accept the clip with certain chips... is hard to tell which is one will have a problem, but a newer chip garanties to work better than older ones...

My 2 cents..

So last night I went inspector gadget on the wii, magnifying glass and my pc tool kit... the wii began to accept discs but not read any, original or burned, after tweaking with the position and making sure it was ground, it began to read original discs. Put the wii back together without the screws and it began to read burned discs but soon after it stopped again. Finally decided to put it back together 100% with screws and tapped (banged it a bit) around and it started working perfectly. Thanks for all the help though, was an interesting journey? lol

They always said that using clips is not perfectly safe, as you see those random thigns happens, soldering is the best ..but requires some specific tools, and kits if youw ant to do it right, ...
I udnerstand your pain, I faced the same situation, but I didnt get the happy ending with tapes :D...mien was compeltely rejected ( the clip ) :D
