I would go for the drive key if i were you as its latest gen chip.

This is what I need to do. We popped open the console only to find epoxy on the board. :( Gonna have to get a drivekey. I have an extra WiiKey 2 Yellow Sticker if anybody is looking for one.

i would go for Flatmod if your looking at the new type of mods doesnt seem to have as many little problems right now.

Does anyone have pictures of a new epoxy flatmodded Wii? I'd like to see what modders are doing to overcome the epoxy'ed Wii's and their techniques.

Go for a softmod, then install the home brew channel. You can then use USBloader with a 360gb WD passport HDD.
