Max drive pro help needed

I have downloaded a save-game for the gamecube.
Installed the software, and put the savegames on the maxdrive pro memorycard.

Then I inserted the maxdrive pro in the Gamecube, but now it says that I need to format the maxdrive pro memorycard.

That's the thing I don't get.
Cause when u format it it, u will loose your savegames.....

And you'll have to start all over again.
Cause when u attach the usb cable to a free usb slot on the pc, you have to format it again, otherwise it won't recognize the maxdrive pro memorycard.

Can u put a downloaded savegame on the maxdrive pro and copy it to another memorycard in your Gamecube?

Anyone who can help me out with this?
