NTSC Console with Wiikey 1.9s firmware, I've tried the feature in the config disc that they have for the wiikey to block the update but that dont work for ****.

So I burned it regularly, it asks for an update, I dont wanna update my system, im on 3.3U and I heard if I update I wont be able to use my homebrew and stuff I got on my wii.

I heard about WiiBrick Blocker, loaded it with the ISO, it said it was patched, I re-burn the game, load it into the wii, now instead of it saying a system update is required, it shows the games logo, im like sweet it worked, I load the game, and nothing happenes, just shows a black screen.

Anyone got tips to get this to work without updating my wii?

Did you get a Madworld USA? Now I have a 3.3U Wii. The game works fine. I must updated some IOS before from other games, then it did not ask for update. I think it is fine to update from this game.

Brickblocker 1.3R2 works fine on iso backup's of the USA release, without any install's of additional IOS's.

yes its a USA Madworld NTSC version, so it dind't ask you to update and you are still on 3.3U? so maybe the update its asking me is not a firmware? just something for the game it self or something? Can anyone confirm this?

EDIT: Better yet, ok lets say I do update to the latest wii firmware, what will I lose, I have the homebrew channel and some WAD virtual console games on the channels... Will those get erased permanently or can the games and homebrew channel be put back on after the update or did nintendo block that...

Well the latest firmware is 3.4 or 3.5 if your in Korea, so I'm guessing it is a firmware update but more than likely an IOS update.

You will lose the ability to install wads with your current setup but it can all be restored through certain methods at the moment.
No doubt Nintendo have some backup laucher/Homebrew killer up there sleeves and are just waiting for it to be solid (not that there is such a thing when it comes to software) before including it in a world wide update of some sort.
Maybe the new OS software that has be rumoured.

ohh ok, so if I update to 3.4 since im US, u lose wads, but does the homebrew channel and my virtual console games will still be there? does the twilight hack still work or is there another way to do the twilight hack?

Yes there is a twilight hack for 3.4 firmware.
Long story short if you want all the benefits of homebrew and your on 3.4 you should downgrade to 3.2, so best not to update.

chea, but form the looks of that link that u posted in the other topic, that update on the madworld disc is not even a firmware update, just an update that intalls IOS's so if I update through the disc, everything should still be normal with no changes hopefully right?

That will effect other backed up games, best just to remove the update.

crap, im so confused now, so now even since its not a firmware update, those files can still mess up the wii from doing stuff?

What is your recommendation on what to do to get this game to work with possibly a guide on showing how to do it? im so lost now, I do appreciate the help so far

This is the best advice on this game at the moment, read through all links and try what you can mate. I think the first one might be more of help to you as you have a mod chip and not a softmod. But it runs fine for me on a PAL system with backup laucher gamma with 002 fix installed and brickblocked, you might want to look into installing that.

If you are using Yaosm 3.2, Just turn off any update blocker by using the yaosm config disc 3.0 and then just run the update using the Madworld disc. It will update your Wii with the correct IOS files and will NOT update your system menu. After running the update on the Madworld disc, I am still on 3.2U. Game now plays fine using the disc channel and I can still install and uninstall wads.

In other words, its pretty much safe to run the update off the disc no matter what chip you are using. It will not update your system menu only the IOS files necessary to play the game. You just have to disable your update blocker if you have one installed.

Hope this helps.

I'm still having no joy with the NTSC version running on my PAL 3.2E wii with wiikey v1. I have tried loading up the IOS 38, 53, 55 from the madworld iso, I've tried the gechos 002 fix and I have used wiibrickblocker 1.3R2 and 1.3, as well as wiu1.1.

All I was getting was a black screen, thats when I tried the 002 fix and brickblocker 1.3R2, now I am getting an error saying "There is a disk error, eject disk and switch off wii"

Have I missed any other things to try?...

Um... All WII updates are "firmware" updates. You have two sets of "firmware":

IOS's/MIOS = Starlet code
System Menu, Channels = PowerPC code

The two together make up the firmware of the WII. So if the update partition only contains IOS's, then it's still firmware.

An IOS update may wipe out any IOS hacks you have installed like SoftMii, CIOS, ability to install WADS, ETC. MIOS Update will wipe out gamecube hombrew launcher and Gamecube backup launcher.

System Menu update will wipe out starfall and preloader and may interfere with the twilight hack.

Channel updates are usually pretty safe AFAIK.

Well I finally got the game running using backup launcher but there is no colour at any point during the game loading or game play. Now..yes I know it's sketched game but I thought that there was some colour in it, even if it was just the SEGA logo at the beginning, so is all well or have I missed something?

Cheers

There is some color. The blood in the game is a deep red.

tailz, how did you fix the "there is a disc error" message that you were getting? I'm getting the same thing and can't cure it. Thanks

I was only getting this when I tried to run the game directly as per all my other games, when I used WP's toy, the game fired up no probs.

I now have the PAL version and this runs normally through the main wii page, so i don't even need to worry about WP's toy any more.
