How to play imports with only the Homebrew channel?

My Wii isn't modded......... yet, and I don't have a freeloader, I heard that th latets updates killed it.

However, I do have the homebrew channel installed.

I tried googling about this, but all I found were guides on how to install the homebrew channel, or how to play imports with modchips or freeloader, not the homebrew.

Can you play Wii imports using the homebrew channel? And if so, how?

I believe the following only work on the pre-oct update:
1.gecko OS is what I use for region free.
2. if you are 3.2 Starlet
