Just because it's exactly the same file system as on the xbox.

First of all it was easy because the 360's XFAT is pretty much like the old Xbox filesystem, only big-endian due to the PPC architecture (bits reversed).

And that means you may now connect your 360s HD to a computer running Linux and you'll get full access to the drive (read/ write data).

PS: Rough translation for non-geeks:
"An experimental driver for the XFAT filesystem (think FAT, NTFS) has been committed to the free60 sourcecode archive. It comes as a patch for the Linux kernel version 2.4.32." ;)

Correction: Not the bits are reversed, the byte order is reversed on big-endian systems...

Full full access?? That's crazy! Or maybe not, but seems like a little bit to me. One thing I was thinking the other day if you could transfer old xbox saved games to the 360, and then possibly trying a hacked save ala Splinter Cell or Mechassault. Can you see the saves with this? I'd assume so..

This has been discussed and is not possible. Run a quick search.
I don't mean this in disrespect but why do people think this would work?
