internet for softmod or not

hi guys just a quick one that i think a lot of people are a little lost with. do you need the internet to softmod a wii. from what i have looked in to you dont need the internet for the softmodding for newbies guide..... how ever i think i am right in saying this that the internet is to downgrade your wii for the starfall hack to stop updates off disks... am i right in saying that if you use brickblocker then you dont need starfall if this is right then you dont actually need a internet connection to mod... if anyone can confirm this it would be a big help not just to me but to everyone else that is a little unsure hope this helps everyone out there........many thanks:)

NO you DONT need the internet to softmod mate.

you acan use brick blocker on your games for safety if you want but im sure backup launcher stops the updates anyway

i know backup loader skips the update just wanted to confirm that the internet is not needed it is just for starfall think there is a lot of people out there that are a little confused.....
