View Full Version : XCM's improved d-pad will make your 360 controller ready for Street Fighter
It looks like there is no real need to buy a new controller to enjoy Street Fighter IV on the 360, as XCM's controller shell seems to do the job well enough with its improved d-pad. If that wasn't enough, the controller also lights up after installing the product. Check out the video review below, while more details on the product are available at XCMLive.com.

ah for ****'s sake, where do these people keep getting idea that lightup buttons are a good idea on a controller with an already limited battery life?

So in addition to correcting the d-pad it also gives the controller six face buttons? No, I didn't think so.

Nimh rechargable batteries last about a week for for me, even longer in controller no.2. I keep 6 extra in the charger ready to go for when they start getting weak.
HEHEH that is rather weak! C'mon at least put a decent d-pad in like a saturn one or snes!
Wait for official improved pad by MS themselves
OR
get an arcade stick instead for SFIV and other fighters! ;)

As someone else said, it's not just the d-pad...it's the PS3 and 360 controllers lack of 6 face buttons that is just as big of a problem as the 360 d-pad.

I wonder how that would be. Are you saying 6 face buttons AND 2 triggers?? If so, I think that is too many buttons and rather complex. I want controls to be easy and user friendly, you know?? Anyone else agree?? :)

He's talking about whatever six buttons are functional for the game. I'm not sure about the 360, but on the PS3 that would be the four shape buttons plus 2 of the shoulder buttons.
Anyway, I don't see who gives a frak about this. Anyone who really wants to play a fighter will get arcade sticks.

I just think controllers are getting more and more out of hand when it comes to the number of buttons. I remember in the good old days when there were hardly any controller buttons. Games were just as fun then as they are today, for the most part. I mean, I know, there are obviously exclusions with games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and Halo etc. etc. etc My point is can we limit the number of buttons used on console controllers before I have a PC keyboard in my hands or I feel like I'm playing that Xbox game Steel Battalion. For those that don't know Steel Battalion has a controller with two control sticks and around 40 buttons. I think you're going to find a lot of people wanting a lot of different things when it comes to this issue. One of my favorite FPS games (on the PC) was tribes, which had a crapload of buttons. Pac-man is also always fun, and it has no buttons.
The whole point of gaming consoles is to offer the flexibility to play different kinds of games. You're certainly under no obligation to have your game use all those buttons. I mean, look at Flower on the PS3. Every single button does the same thing. It's pretty hard to hit the wrong one.
In other news, I just found 129 yen, 3 defunct subway tokens from the local subway that no longer takes tokens, and 1 arcade token from an arcade that shut down last year. Sadness.

Pretty sure that's the same replacement case I put onto mine about 2 years ago. And the only apparent difference is a better dpad. What's wrong with analog?

Screw street fighter..
I wana be able to look through market place content without pushing down and it switching left and right. Its to sensitive on the diagonals. Sad when you have to lightly press up/down if you dont want it to go left and right
Goddammit! i dont need another pad, just dualshock adapter without lag!!!

First day or two of playing SFIV, the d-pad bothered me, but then I got used to it, figured out how to make the fighter do what I wanted about 98% of the time, now I just kick ass at the game like I do in all other SF games. Every once in awhile, i'll jump when trying a forward quarter circle, but that's about it. I'd still rather use a Sony controller, but for $200 and the ability to play backups, i'm happy with the 360. Sony needs to realize why the PSX and PS2 was so successful. If they were smart, they would develop and sell mod chips for their own system.

would have agreed with you a few months back, but then i realised games are getting more advanced and require more buttons. with the move into 3d, we were obviosly going to need another stick to sue the new axis. Steel battalion has so many buttons because it was some robot sim thing wasnt it. like your in the cockpit, so having so many buttons is justified. with new ideas the more controls you need. when we had 3 buttons, that was because all we could do was punch jump and call for popo (streets of rage).
