yup sure is By a whole 0.047 seconds :eek::eek::D:D, basically meaning after 20 plus games you'd be a whole second faster.
Well for me installing on HDD is better, even if it is 3seconds slower load times I can live with that for the piece and quite.

I havn't noticed any loading on the 360 version with it installed on the hdd (which only took a couple of minutes to do as well which suprised me). Seems more like cart speed ater the inital game load. Great game tho and even if I did have to wait longer between loads, it would be worth the wait.

Oh wow, i wonder why?
Probably something to do with the fact that Blu-ray are 50 Gig in size, compared to the dual layer 8.5 Gig DVD's on Xbox 360.... Doh

What has that to do with it, the possible size of the media (i doubt the PS3 version uses a 50GB disk and I very seriously doubt it anywhere near fills a 25GB disk) doesn't mean the larger disk has to access slower. The fact that the PS3 drive is slower accessing or the data is not optimally ordered is more likley to be the reason.

The numbers say the drive is too slow, ps3 has the slowest reader on the market same goes for the pc counterpart (2xblu8xdvd24xcd). Simpy copy the same amount of data from a bd-r on the sony drive and a dvd drive limited to 12x its a no brainer which wins. bd-r 6x is much more convincing in this case :)
(note the above was tested on a system with 10,000rpm drives so its not a bottleneck job)
I would like to see a ps3 ver dump size still, i dont intend to buy this game anyway and i would of ripped it to hdd on 360/ps3 anyway since its that beneficial.

Xbox360 loads from DVD even faster than from HDD? Amazing.
Ye, i was just about to ask about that, what is the reason for this? I would think that the harddisk is faster than the Xbox 360 DVD drive?
Seeing how that you can install every game (i think so at least?) on the Xbox 360, how does this work? Does the Xbox 360 makes an ISO image of the DVD game and runs the game like this?
Well sf4 on ps3 when installed to ps3 hard drive loads faster
Ye, i did this and the load is indeed faster :)
By the way, the PS3 install is about 2200MB if i am not mistaken. I just wanted to mention that in case anyone was wondering :)

I must say this thread isn't as colorful as I thought it would be by now. A ps3 vs 360 comparison that's not at 8 pages? I wonder if most of the "one track mind" group is sick or got their internet privileges suspended/revoked?
I think this was pretty much expected, when the opposite happens I'll consider it shocking, well not shocking, but news.

The 360 just copies all the game data from the disc to the hard drive. The most I've seen is around 6.8GB for any given game.
Back on the video, did anyone else notice that the first time test (360 DVD) doesn't start at the same place as the others? That could be why it looks like the DVD loads faster than the HDD. I installed SFIV on my 360 and didn't notice too big a difference in load times.

Well I own all three consoles, and Im not interested in being pat of any fanboy **** that a lot of people here seem to revel in.
So Im just going to give my honest opinion on PS3, its long. Everything about it seems to take forever, after playing PS3 constantly for 3 weeks, and I guess getting used to the massive amount of time you have to wait to get anything started on it. I went back and played some 360, it really hit home to me how slow and how much time you waste waiting for PS3 to do, well, anything gaming wise.
Feel free not to jump all over me and try and disprove this with a load of **** figures and whatever. Its fact. PS3 is the slowest console ever made, and Ive played on almost all of them.
So this isnt any sort of news, or a surprise to me.

wow zeus...you fail...HARD.
it does not take 21 seconds to load up on the PS3. the PS3 takes 7-10 seconds longer than 360 THAT'S IF you don't install it. i have it for 360 and PS3. Also PS3 version gets rid of those minor 2 sec Now loading screens that the 360 version displays consistently now making the 360 load at 5 second total (still shorter than PS3 version WHEN NOT installed). Anyways, the PS3 dominates once installed and also b/c of the controller. Right now i have people playing on my PS3 motorstorm pr so i am going to hop on some SFIV on LIVE.

if people care about load times, they will install, that goes for both systems.
the thing to celebrate here is that the install is optional on PS3 and not mandatory.

Now you ARE talking out of your arsehole.
If everyone knew beforehand about all these installs and slow load times on the PS3 i seriously doubt a lot of people would have bought one, and theres no way in hell a console should EVER be compared to a PC... except in this case, seeing as you PS3 users have to pretty much install everything. A console is supposed to be "pick up and play" not pansying about with installs and long load times, and having to buy bigger hardrives to fit it all on, that SHOULDNT happen... and much much more im sure ive forgotten.
I shunned the PS3 initially for the high price and the late european/uk release, and im so glad i did now looking at the state of it. I may buy one when theyre £100, in about 7 years i expect.
This is not a 360 fanboy rant either, even though i do own one. Seems to me your the PS3 fanboy ranting and raving because you dont like the truth about that $hitty console.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but the load times are probably just due to drive read rates.
CD @ 1x = 150kbs
DVD @ 1x = 1350kbs
BD @ 1x = 4500kbs
So an Xbox 360 drive spinning at 12x would equal 16200 kbs
versus a PS3 drive spinning at 1x equaling 4500 kbs
(or) a PS3 drive spinning at 2x equaling 9000 kbs
(I'm not sure whether Sony's drive is 1x or 2x) but either way, the BluRay drive is slower because it debuted in it's infancy with minimum speeds.
I don't own, or have any intrest in a PS3, so I could be wrong on it's drive speed/read rates, but I think it's pretty accurate.

I also got both because I have friends on PSN and Xbox Live so I can get better at Street Fighter IV. This means I am going to get Gold again after such a long time being Silver.

I have Street Fighter IV for 360 and for me it loads WAY longer than5 seconds on the very first match. Also like 20 seconds. Once you play the game for a couple of minutes it gets better. I am assuming that the data gets cached on the HDD while playing. Same thing happens with GTA. The popins get less frequent the longer I play, but they are very noticable at first. I have an arcade console and bought the 20 gig harddrive for it.

DVD is a smaller size and the disk speed for 360 is a lot faster than the blu-ray. We get the same load times when installed to HDD for both systems. However this means nothing when PS3 has the superior controll D-Pad, Better online competition agains the 360. Tl;DR this load thing means **** and its nothing more than Xbros attempting to troll

So an Xbox 360 drive spinning at 12x would equal 16200 kbs
The 360 drive is a CAV drive so 12x is it's a maximum and optimum read rate, at the outer 10 to 15% of a disc (8x maximum on dual layer discs). The innermost portion of the disc is read effectively at about 3.5x speeds so the data rate is quite a bit slower. The PS3's BD drive is a 2x CLV drive, so it's throughput is 2x anywhere on the disc (9MB/s). When matched with dual layer DVDs, they are roughly equal, with the a 2x BD edging out DL DVD in the average read rate. Where the BD drive suffers the most is the seek times, they are pretty much abysmal (a CLV drive has to adjust drive motor speeds from innermost to outermost disc) - so the same game on DVD and BD with tons of smaller files would load slightly faster on DVD - unless the game on BD was authored such so that there were less files or less loads/seeks, but that takes time and money and it is an expense not worth bothering with, for speed gains nobody but tempermental fanboys on messageboards would notice or appreciate :)

That's not true. When you load up SFIV on the PS3, just go into the settings and Install its data into the Hard Drive. After that, it'll load just as fast as the Xbox 360 on the VS menu.
Now you ARE talking out of your arsehole.

if you think a PC should never be compared to a console WTF do you think a gaming PC is for?
If you don't like load times get yourself a f*cking N64. What a **** comparison even bet it's not even true. I mean, was it that hard to select the same characters and to start counting at the same f*cking TIME in a TIMED comparison?
Seriously, nobody gives a **** about a longer load time as long as it's not too long and if they did they would install but I guess there has to be something for idiots to complain about a new multiplatform game now that the install is not mandatory. The only fools who do care are the idiots who think that 2GB is ludicrous and that 16seconds is so precious to them they must spend three times that amount reading and posting about their disgust. We all know who they are and why they wish to show their crocodile tears.
I'm beginning to wonder if the temporary lack of news at Maxconsole was a result of MS's restructuring plan...I kid... or do I?

Just stop and think about it for a minute, it took the Specy/C64 sometimes over 10 mins to load a game.

i used to like watching it download, especially the title screen pictures, line by line, sad like that i am. ;)
Which game music did you like the most?
mine was from a game called something like Amarote 128K, can't remember how to spell it now, you controlled a four legged ship on a 3D background.(green & Black or yellow & black screens).
Second one was from Starglider 128K version. (Vector Graphics).
