The BBC reports that malicious hackers are selling services to LIVE players that kick other players off the network. Apparently these services are proving popular with sore losers who wish to gain revenge on an opponent who has beaten them on an Xbox LIVE game.

Xbox Live is being targeted by malicious hackers selling services that kick players off the network.

The booting services are proving popular with players who want a way to get revenge on those who beat them in an Xbox Live game.

The attackers are employing data flooding tools that have been used against websites for many years.

Microsoft is "investigating" the use of the tools and said those caught using them would be banned from Xbox Live.

"There's been a definite increase in the amount of people talking about and distributing these things over the last three to four weeks," said Chris Boyd, director of malware research at Facetime Communications.

People obviously have too much money and are very sore losers if they are prepared to pay for this sort of thing. At the end of the day all it amounts to is a minor inconvenience to the person who is the target.

You know how it works by now, nothing for four days then all the news at once in an hour from the past week.

lol..
We were complaining about it in another thread.. funny how now everything in order as it appears on Kotaku is on this site minus just a couple random ones.

And they were not flood" attacks as it has been rewritten to say.
It was denail of service attacks. YEs, it does flood the xbox ethernet port with to much information but call it what it is. It denies your console/pc the ability to get a call out.

Which is really pathetic on those players who use its parts.
I mean, how much of a sore worthless loser do you have to be so that you are so competitive in a VIDEO GAME with no stakes that you would risk commiting a felony in order to boot players.

Do you really belive they wont be able to tell where these DoS attacks are coming from?
Do you really think that once you are found MS will not take you to court over it for manipulating private IP address and connections.
And when a few are found do you not think that the internet companies wont follow suit for you using there services to commit felonies?

This sounds awesome. So...you have "touchy" people who are paying money every year for Gold memberships, in order to go online and suck at games. Since they are "touchy" (as we've said), they now pay MORE money to essentially trigger a hacker-zerg upon the people who kick their asses in games.

And then, on the other side of the fence, we've got other, normal-er Gold members out there, who are apparently paying for the privilege of playing with these a**hats and then getting kicked offline by them.

I figure all these kinds of jackhole behavior are inevitable online. I don't doubt the same kind of thing happens on PSN and with PC games. However, it's also why I have no plans to start paying for it.

If Sony or MS offered a Platinum Membership, and all members were professionals over the age of 30, who had been psychologically profiled and verified to be intelligent, affable, and non-insane...I'd pay for that.

Thats why I only play with friends. Its pretty easy to find informal guilds and such that schedule gaming sessions. The one I hang out with is one of many from 2old2play if your over 30 its a good place to check out, very active forums and dozens of "guilds" to join for PC, 360 and PS3 gaming, best of all no kids allowed.
