A new website has launched which aims to dish out achievements more fairly based on the game's difficulty. For example, some of the achievements in Guitar Hero 3 are far more difficult than in other games, yet you will receive the same points.

PRESS RELEASE: A new kind of Xbox 360 site

We love achievements.

In fact, we think they're bloody marvelous.

But sometimes the way they are scored doesn't seem quite right:

The easy 1,000 achievement points in Avataar are worth exactly the same as the virtually impossible 1,000 in Guitar Hero 3.

Now frankly, that's not on.

So we came up with a system that we think scores achievement points in a fairer way, based on the number of people that have won the achievement compared with the number that have the game - you can read more about it here:

Our site is steadily growing. We've attracted an average of 1,500 new sign-ups each month since the site was launched in July, and this weekend broke through 10,000 registered users. There has been no advertising, all of our users have signed up purely through word of mouth and recommendations.

The site is currently in Beta as we are constantly adding new features based on feedback from our user base - we recently added Twitter integration and advanced friends feeds to see exactly what achievements your friends are earning.

So….

Just how good are you?

Seems their market is the achievement whores but most of those will play any easy game to boost their numbers. Most of the rest of use just couldnt care less about achievements, trophies or anything else beyond being fun "goals" to attempt. The only way I use them is to extend my playtime and trying fun things. Take Fable 2 for example, I had no idea you could shoot the rabbits or kick the chickens until I saw them in the achievement list.

achievements and trophies are nothing more than a 5 second "cool" whenever i happen to randomly hit one, and there it ends.

at least call of duty had multiplayer 'achievements' that were actually cool, even though they dont connect to gamerscore.

I completely agree. Fallout 3 is a game I could have gotten a lot more from. I got 310 before I stopped playing. I don't see how people can aim to get like 1000 from games like Avatar so they can get a higher number. And some of the fun things in games I found with achievements, like kicking ratz in Alone in the Dark.
