Hey,

I was wondering if a rip existed for Armored Core: Formula Front International was out for a 512 MB memory stick? I managed to get it down to about 660 MB from about 900 by deleting the dummy and dummy1 files and update folder but I'm sure that the movies could be deleted to maybe whittle it down to < 480 MB? I know that the Movie Folder is about 347 MB and if I had the knowledge I could easily delete videos such as the opening and maybe some of the "news" videos at USRDIR/movie/central. I'm a complete noob to this sort of thing so I'm not exactly sure how to delete videos. I think it involves something about relinking in UMD_GEN but I could never really figure it out.

I know that I could probably rip the Japanese language clean out of the game if I knew how, seeing how the game makes you choose the language you select at the start of the game.

If there isn't one available, could someone perhaps give me a help out? I'm really just completely clueless on the elements of ripping files beyond that of deleting dummy and update files. Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure that there are other people around who would like to get this down to a smaller size.

u can replace the videos (.pmf) with like gameboot.pmf

the way u relink in umdgen(umdgen.com v1.02) iso builder is find the 'main' file you will be linking everything else too. (i think umdgen only supports re-linking on one file. not sure haven't gone too far) right click this main file and set it as 'master'. then (u still seem to need to have the original files dragged into umdgen) then right click those files and say 'link' or whatever it is(not on laptop). and they will then just be seen as extra files but realy just point to the original master one.

umdgen is kinda buggy as of now but after a few tries u can probably get it to work right.

I tried messing around with the movie files, I replaced a lot of the movie files with the ICON.pmf file and I barely managed to whittle it down to 475 mb. I loaded the .ISO with Fastloader 0.7 and I got to the Now Loading screen before the game just froze up. I think I just got a little careless with the whole replacing video files with the .pmf files. I deleted a lot of files, do you replace dummy files with a 0 bit .bin file of the same name because that's what I did when I was trying to bring down the size. Or do I just delete them cold turkey?

UPDATE Folder = 15.9 MB
dummy = 9.99 MB
dummy0 = 144 MB

Deleting these takes the .iso from 858 MB to 660 MB.

So, then I went and tried deleting some videos. The biggest problem was that I don't know exactly what each video does. I think the videos called "news001" to "news006" probably have something to do with the story, and there's a bunch of videos in a folder called "Lecture" but I don't know whether or not to replace them with the ICON1.pmf (or a similar .pmf) because I may need the tutorial. The total size of the Lecture folder is 188 MB (which deleted or dummied takes it down to 472 MB which makes it 512 MB compatible)

I did so, then I went to the sound folder and took bgm11103 and made it master. Then I relinked every bgm up until bgm11184. Then I did the same to the bgms in the __US folder. This reduced the iso size to 426 MB, so I tried booting it up.

Long story short: It works!

One more thing, don't try to use the "Lecture" videos. It just makes the "Formula F Begins!" intro video flash on the screen until you hit Triangle.

You could delete all video to have a 290Mb iso that work fine.
