Ok the Good News: This game works on a 1.5 machine through Fastloader and Umd loader .8c and im pretty sure Dev hookboot 0.22 as well.
Now the Bad News: This is the buggiest PSP game to date. You will not believe with your eyes the amount of bugs left in this game. It's almost not even worth the effort. I expect the game to be mass recalled and many refunds given at the end of the day.
IF this game was not plagued with overwhelming bugs, this would have been one of the best action adventure games to date on ANY handheld. It would have been just that good. But, unfortunately NOT.

what kind of bugs? could they be related to the fact its not running on the required version firmware?

No, actually firmware issues are the first thing i thought of after i ran it under 1.5! This game has verifiable glitches. The first thing you will notice immediately is that the audio does not match up with the video. It's like watching an old kung-fu flick, everything is a second or two behind the action. As you play the game, you will see where a cutscene has been cut a few seconds short or the your main player character will simply disappear. Sometimes the music just stops completely for no reason at all.(but this is not a bad thing, the music sucks.) And last, the framerate will sometimes crawl to a halt. Not as common as the other issues, but this has happened twice already.
Outside of these issues, good game. You get to see what the High resolution mode on the PSP looks like. I now finally see where the polygon comparison to the PS2 is evident. This machine has hidden power.

Just a thought, could this be true on a v2.00 system (and above) running directly from the UMD? If yes then this might not be a glitch.

this thread is for prince of persia, not for king kong.so,if someone has your answer but don't come in this thread, you won't have any answer
I just ripped this baby but haven't had time to play it yet. I really hope that framerate issue isn't too visible. I couldn't care less about the music glitched, etc, but if theres one thing I despise, its framerate drops. I threw away my Toca 2 umd just because of that. It's pretty unacceptable to have that sort of problem on a console system. I mean, yeah I wouldn't complain if I was trying to play Doom III @ full specs with a Geforce 4, but this is different...
Developpers should maybe stop thinking about hi-res, fully detailed environments and stuff like that and start optimizing the animation so that everything runs flawlessly. Theres nothing worse than a 15fps game.

First, I actually bought the game. I should have noted that these findings are NOT from an iso but from the actual UMD itself. However, I did discover that the game did not crash and ran a bit smoother when either did one of these two things:
1.) Upgrade to 2.00 and run UMD direct (Still has A/V issues)
2.) Used HookBooot .22 to run the game under 1.5
Both options work pretty well. But, this game although very very beautiful and actually alot fun to play once you get into it, was poorly coded in spots.
I would think the ISO would run smoother. Can someone confirm this?

The game does have audio issues, but I'd hardly say it's a very buggy game. Personally I think it's one of the most polished games on the PSP. The graphics have to be seen to be believed, it really is amazingly close to the PS2 version, high poly models, high res textures, and full scene anti aliasing. The framrate does dip from time to time, but only occasionally. I think Multiboy might be mistaking the slow motion kills for framrate problems.
Hands down and even with the audio bugs this is the best PSP game I've ever played, that said I wish it was Two Thrones instead.

Yeah, Two Thrones would have been awesome. Im greatly looking forward to a true Diablo game for this system with all of the cinematics and gameplay. I have turned slow motion kills completely off. The frame rate dips when there are several enemies on the screen or when you are fighting a boss. I do agree about the graphics though. Some of the best high res textures I have seen so far on this system. Particularly the backgrounds on the outside of the temple. Breathtaking detail only marred by the sound. It's like the A student who didn't fully apply himself. lol.
Despite issues with this game, i would still recommend it. As there is nothing else quite like it on the system yet.

Agreed, to be honest I was sort of expecting a game that didn't look nearly as good as this looks, so perhaps I'm gushing. Its good to see they got the Jade engine ported though, this can only mean good things for future Ubisoft PSP games. I think the PSP would be a great place for a sequel to Beyond Good and Evil.
