Question about HBC and 3.3U..

Happy holidays to all.

I have first launch Wii w/ original Wiikey and 1.9S. I had set the config disc to block updates, but I guess it doesn't work. Son installed update from Wiifit and now I'm on 3.3u. I was hoping to start playing around with .wad and vc files.
If I'm reading correct, I should be able to follow the "Softmodding for Dummies" and still obtain the functionality of HBC??
Or do I need to downgrade to 3.2U??

3.2 is ideal for homebrew... but you should be alright on 3.3

to downgrade, you would need the HBC anyways...
