What hardware/software do you have installed? Which chip... Which homebrew programs did you install? Do you have Starfall installed?

I'm still new to all of this but have been reading up a bit on your issue perhaps? Are you sure your bro didn't drop it? Did you play a game or your bro after that was a different region from yours and it had a mandatory update? When you say you get a black screen.. can you still play a game or hear sounds like your in the wii menu etc.? Also have you tried making an unbricker cd to see if that would work.. a guide a read said you just pop it in and let it update.. maybe give it an hour just to be safe and then restart the wii? :X

i have seen this many times on the wii...the machines havnt even been modded..it seems like a popular fault...i dont know of a fix other then changing the mainboard..i hope in this case for you that its something you have messed up and can be fixed..good look...

this is an unorthodox suggestion, im assuming there is some lithium battery in the wii for system settings try removing and reinserting or even replace with a new one (how else do settings remain when unplugged) also ive heard of factory reset? take these into account it could be possible

The battery only holds the information like time & user settings I've seen this a couple of times to never fixed the issue like trev said it's a mainboard issue I think it a problem with the av port

thanks for the tips, yeah i was playing smackdown when i won and my bro resetted it and after i switched it off. next day it no longer works, any idea where i can find the unbricker cd?

i dont think it would be wise for me to open it since im not that technical with the wii

Have you tried booting it into maintenence mode? It's a long shot though as if one setting is done, the other will probably be done also... Worth a try though...

The unbricker files you need are here.

http://www.coderetard.com/2008/05/22/wii-fix-disc-unbricks-semi-brick-by-import-mario-kart-ssbb/

Not sure if the whole process is automatic but hopefully it is? Worse case is if it fails you most likely need to send it in for repair but ask on the forum first since it's homebrewed and might be a no no. ;) Or sell it on ebay as parts and get a new one?

alaricmucino: Please don't hi-jack people's threads.. make a new one and try to be specific as possible about what you need help with.
