View Full Version : Wiikey V2 - Installed but DVD drive not loading/working?

I have installed a few wii modchips before, but for some reason the dvd drive doesn't turn on or load any discs on this D2C wii.
The light on the wiikey turns red when I turn on the system, and I have tried using two different wiikey v2 that I have, but they both end up with the same result. If I remove the wiikey, then the drive works normally, so I'm thinking that something either must be wrong with my drive and wiikey together or something.
I have also checked the wires, and everything looks like it touches the right points. Anyone know why the dvd drive won't turn on if the wiikey is attached?
When I turn it on, the red light on the wiikey turns on but stays red forever. It doesn't flash blue or anything.
I'm having the exact same issue right now on a D2E. I also tried two Wiikey2's, and no matter what it does the same thing. Let me know if you figure anything out! I've also done many installs and can't seem to find any bridging...Any help would be appreciated.

one has a d2c the other has a d2e if they are using 6 wires thats will not be the problem. but if they are installing with 5 it could well be.
you need to solder points A / B / C / G / GND / PWR
post a picture of your install , it might help us find out whats wrong

I am using 6 wires. Do you happen to know specifically which wire might cause this issue?
Thanks
Figured mine out! As it turns out, I'm an idiot and didn't realize that the epoxy went all the way past point G, and I soldered to a point that APPEARED to be point G... but the epoxy made it misleading ;) I heated that ***** up, tore off some more epoxy, soldered it down..now it works great.
Mysteriouskk, check your point G!
Thanks

I'm pretty sure i soldered it in the right place. My wii doesn't have any epoxy.

Hey, it worked. I guess the G spot was a little messed up on my wii. However, my dvd drive works now, but when I load up the wii setup disc, it says it cannot read it.
What should I do now?

Does it work with originals? Wii backups?

Post a pic of the install if possible. What happens with your LEDs? Does your red LED light up still? How about your blue LED?
Also, your install may all be good and correct. Check your media as well. Make sure you are using quality media.
