My Wii is 3.2U firmware and I used the softmod tutorial a few threads below this one. My homebrew channel works as I can play Doom, Quake, Duckhunt, etc. But I used ImgBurn to burn the Super Paper Mario iso (4.37GB) at 4x. So I put the 4.7GB DVD-R burned disc in, selected backup launcher then hit start and nothing happens. So I burned a few more and the same thing happened. I tried burning it on a different computer, same thing. I tried uninstalling the backup launcher and reinstalling it. What am I doing wrong here? I can't even access the config screen by pressing 1 after hitting start on the backup launcher.

Usually, you have to burn at 2.4x
try that, then come back if you still can't get it to work.

I'm pretty sure you have to hold on the B button before it loads and while it is loading

Yep I burned I at 2.4x and still a blank screen after clicking backup launcher channel. Homebrew works but not the backup launcher. I have been googling around this subject and found there are other ways to do this like Gekko and such things where you start them inside the homebrew browser instead right from the channel. Should I try that?

Have you installed the correct cios ? If so try using different media to burn your backups on. I burn mine and my friends backups at 16x and they all play fine and all using softmods. But saying that for my friends with modchips I have to burn them at 4x.

I give up. I've tried so many different tutorials and files and nothing is working. I just don't think the launcher works for everyone. Well if support doesn't get any better, I'm gonna sell my Wii.

NO, because I am not opening up my Wii. I hate opening up devices because if I screw up, I just wasted a whole lot of money. At least with software its been tested many times and has less than a 1% failure rate as long as you follow directions.

I hate to sound like a jerk but.. maybe you shouldn't post threads
asking for help if you're unwilling to put in the work yourself. You give
very little information about your error and then you complain when people
try to offer solutions.
Had to say it.

I gave enough of information, what else do you want me to give, I'll be glad to provide it. My wii is 3.2U firmware and I followed the guide exactly as it says and burned isos with imgburn at 2.4x. I click on the launcher channel, screen goes black, nothing happens and I have to manually reboot my Wii. I installed the homebrew channel, installed the CIOS49 (even the CIOS37) and backup launcher channel in the WAD1.3 app and nothing works. I burned 10 isos already and nothing works, this is a waste of my time. And I don't want to use a modchip for the reason I already mentioned. I did put in a lot of work, spent so much time googling other tutorials and restarting the way they wanted them to be followed. I also followed youtube tutorials exactly like they describe and I can't get anything to run. /rant

Ok yea I'm using 16x Memorex DVD-R in the US. That would really suck if I found out the problem the entire time is that the iso burning isn't working. Anyone with anything add to aid me in getting this working is much appreciated. Thanks a lot guys for your advice, but I still can't get it:(

Don't use memorex. Use a Ritek made disc. Like Office Depot branded discs. Use Imageburn and burn at 2 or 4X. Report back. I have gotten 3 outta 4 ISO's working first try (haven't gotten any more yet) and I was able to back up Lego Star Wars myself and it works too. Busy backing up all my store bought discs so I can let the kids change the discs themselves. :D

Just to make sure, what tutorial and version of homebrew channel are you using to get this working? I've tried the wii softmodding for dummies tutorial which requires homebrew channel 1.01, cios249.wad, and backuplauncher.wad. Everything installs but my many burnt discs do not start.
I've also tried a youtube tutorial I found:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEral9gf5cc&feature=related
and that says to use homebrew channel beta 8 then put the cios installer and backup launcher folders in the app folder and install them. With this tutorial I can't get the cios installer to well install, it doesn't load.

Try the installer in this (http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=115623) package.
I am having difficulty getting it to work on my friends wii. Maybe it is because I'm using memorex dvd r's

Haha, well that installer is the same one I'm using in the second method I listed. And yea I hope its not my dvds, it'll be a few hours before I can try different dvd-r's.

DVD Read Error 324 is what I get now. <crying> :(
I know what this means. Either its a burning error or that the cIOS isn't installed correctly. And I also tried different media, went from Memorex to Kodak 16x DVD-R. Next I'll try a different burner and see if that does anything.

Using the homebrew channel beta 8 and the cIOS installer (cIOS249) and backup launcher in the apps folder I get Error 324 and 384. I've tried 3 different burners, 4 different speeds (2.4x, 4x, 8x, AUTO), and tried three different brands of DVD-R's but still errors every time. There's not much else I can do but give up, I've wasted about 25 DVD-R's already!!! The only other thing I can think of is either my Wii is messed up or the cIOS are screwed up every time I install them.
Is not gonna be bullet proof like the hard mod especially for new release. If i need to play classic game i'll stick with my psp or pc is not like they remaster the game to widescreen and 480pHD :D

Yea I know, I'm just mad because I see a lot of other people using the same method getting it to work but I cannot get one dvd to work, not one.

hey man i had the same problem, i couldn't get The Back up launcher to work, so i looked around and i came up with this http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KPZLEOQ8, just follow the instructions, when you have to install cios choose a network install, otherwise you will just get an error.
