Awhile ago I attempted to mod my Wii with a early generation mod chip. It was a cyclowiz 2nd gen. Turns out their first batch of 2nd gen chips were faulty (curse them!). So I soldered and resoldered the hell out of my Wii only to find out that my chip was bad and I had probably soldered it fine the first time. Needless to say, never got the damn thing working. Thankfully my Wii still works. It's not pretty but it works. lol.

I haven't touched my Wii in a long time and stopped paying attention to the scene since I figured my Wii was now unmodable. Now I see there are clip on style mod clips available. After I cleaned up the mess of probably 5+ solder jobs I'm missing 2 pads. Pads B and C in the picture below.

(I tried just posting it in the thread, but I guess my post count is too low to post images OR links. Just copy/paste and replace the * guys, sorry)

So can anyone tell me how these connect to the board? It looks like it pops on the IC chip that you can use for alternate solder points. Does it use those missing pads at all? Or does it get it's power and ground points from the IC chip too?

I'm not sure if they all work the same way, or if certain chips socket them selves somewhere else and DO use those pads. I'd probably just get a pre soldered one to save time and patience. heh.

Any info would be great guys. Thanks!

i think it depends on the chip. i think some might still get power and ground from other places on the board, but some take it from the IC chips legs.

best to decide what chip you want to go with first, then do your research into the clip.

some other chips may even solder without using those points. i know the wiikey2 for example uses very different points than my wiikey v1.

just install the wiikey2 or the d2pro6 wire , you wont need to use them points
